Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see a specific forum for women. Is there one? I am still deciding on which company to go with and am learning about some of the physical requirements. Navajo requires you to be able to lift 100 pounds. Is that typical? 100 pounds over my head?
I've heard I will be harassed non-stop. which I don't believe, but what is the reality of a solo female driver? I've heard that some drivers think that women don't belong. I don't need to listen to the stuff, but it would be nice to know what to expect.
I can't carry, even with a concealed carry, so what's the next best thing?
Will I really be in very seedy neighborhoods without any help in the middle of the the night?
Some companies will team train me with a woman if I can wait. May told me it would be at least a month before I could start.
This forum's been very helpful so far. Thanks in advance for your help.
Is there a forum specifically for women?

you shouldn't be harassed at all,i haven't heard about lifting 100lb over your head for box driver, flatbedders yes, seedy neighborhoods are always possible but you dont have to stay there, move to where you feel safe, women trainers are in short supply.

With tankers I never had much seedy neighorhood experience other than occassionally driving through one. Was in some rough neighborhoods at times with reefer trailers. Talk to Prime and Schneider about their tanker divisions.
As far as being harrassed by male drivers, it may happen on rare occassion, but those guy are usually cowardly. You can control that real quickly with a quick phone call to the company. I know of one incident at a truck stop where the female driver screamed and started backing away from the male driver pointing at him and continued screaming. She wasn't really afraid at all, but he sure was. That's a little far fetched, but whatever works, do it. That was probably the last time he risked harrassing a female driver.Last edited: Mar 10, 2013
