Just answer people honestly. Part of the reason why your thead is and was so well received!!! -
You know lots of people were reading this thread.... And more and more guys who were thinking about becoming drivers were asking my opinion...and for advice...shucks,.thats why I was on the forum...i didnt know squat. And it just spooked me. I didnt even open The Truckers Report for a year. Yesterday, because of the time change, I had a few hours to kill...so, i gathered io my courage and got on line. i was amazed st the number of people who wondered where I went...and were even angry that I had dropped out. So...please accept my apology.

I just want to say...on a personal note...that this job is like a vacation for me. I tend to enjoy time alone. I suppose, I am somewhat of a romantic....i like to listen...and let things rattle about in my head. Working with other people, while not bad...blocks that sort of activity. I am a very good customer of Satellite Radio...and Audible.Com..provider of audio books. I feel guilty because this job keeps me out of the day to day tensions of normal life. I drive from 8AM 'til 9PM...20 days....then get home, catch up, fix things...go to church...after 3 days I'm ready for the road again. I still think this id temporsry...not the real world....but I am enjoying it

So what does you wife think of this extended vacation?
I suspect your wife misses you more than you realize. Seriously I admire what you have done, and sometimes I wish I would have stuck it out a little longer. I am about your age and went down the same path, but to me trucking seemed to be more like working without pay than a vacation, so when the opportunity came for me to leave it I did, right before testing out... but at least I can read your stories and enjoy what all you are doing! Welcome back.

Hi Markus! The more I read on this forum, the more amazed I am. I'm in nearly your exact footsteps, albeit a year behind you. I left CNN a few years ago after 30+ years on the TV side of the biz. (99% behind the camera). I don't think it's a bucket list item, but I've wanted to drive since I got a taste of it working for my father's irrigation business way back when. Please keep posting. I'm going to go back and read all the previous messages in this thread. Drive Safe!

Markus, it's REAL GOOD to hear from you. I have often checked the thread over the last few months to see if you had returned, and many times wondered if you were OK. I'm thrilled that your happy, and still enjoying it. I been at it 1 yr (3-8-12) and I enjoy it as well. As a former Corp Exec for years, and NOT REHIREABLE (LOL) by todays corp standards, I love this job, NO BS if you know what I mean. Do your job, and evryone leaves you alone!! Just how I want it @ 58!!!
God Bless You Markus, and I'm glad your Safe, Sound and Healthy.

This past weekend I read this entire thread. It took several hours and I greatly enjoyed it. Years ago I completed all my training with Prime from getting my Permit to my CDL to completing 60,000 miles with a Trainer. The whole process took approx 4.5 months. Due to a family tragedy, I was unable to return to Solo with Prime. Getting through training was a growing and maturing experience for me. Toughened me up, to be sure! I am 50 and I yearn to go on the road and am now in a better postion to do just that! Yes, I would like to drive for Prime. IMO: Prime has the best, most thorough training. They pay well. And I regret not being able to have continued on with them. On the other hand, I'm pleased to learn that to drive for the Pumpkin People, I/anyone of us could be in our own truck in less than a month after completing our training! Like Markus, I am an introvert and being around people too much does not do me well. Life in a truck, as I love to drive anyway, would suit me well. I've appreciated reading all your posts on this thread and have gained much from you! Please keep this thread going.
Twicebitpattyj Thanks this.
