Moving to Texas this summer and I've been looking at maverick glass division or oil field with Schneider. I'm leaning toward maverick. I've drove flatbed before and I haul glass now for a glass fabricator. How is the glass division out of Texas? Miles good? Get home on time? Any dedicated accounts? Thanks for any info.

post your question over at the Maverick threads man. I am sure that Razor will jump at the chance to discuss it with you. He just left Schneider for Maverick Glass division and has been doing well his first month or so. I do believe that there is a Dedicated Glass gig out of Witchita Falls, TX too. http://www.maverickusa.com/driving-jobs/dedicated-opportunities
RoadHungryTrucker Thanks this. -
I pulled a dry van for Schneider for 14 months. They were a good place to get my experience but they have changed. They are getting to picky about micro managing the drivers.
I can't tell you how it's going to be at the dedicated accounts but the OTR glass division had been good so far.
Glass pays more per mile than flatbed but we get slightly less miles. I can load, secure, and tarp a double drop trailer in about 2-3 hours now. A flatbed or step deck with all A-frames takes me 3-5 hours.
We get paid for tarping as well as any time I touch the A-frames.
So far I'm averaging about 2000 miles a week. I came in with over a year of experience so I started at 49CPM.
So far I've had 2 paychecks from driving. The first was 800 gross with about 500 net. The second one was 1150 gross and 950 net.
The pay at maverick is much higher than Schneider. The average first year income in the glass division is somewhere around 50-52k from what I've been told.
I can't say much about home time yet as I've only had one so far and I volunteered to mess it up to help the company since I had no plans anyways.Last edited: Mar 10, 2013

Hey thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure maverick is the way I'll go. Already talked to a recruiter. I'm excited about it. I haven't read one bad thing about maverick.
