NYC is a nightmare because of the speed youre required to make decisions (and the WEIRD exit numbers). You come aroudn a curve after seeing a sign that says "TRUCKS DO NOT GO THIS WAY" then see the exit marked as STAA friendly on your map.. that was the correct exit.. then see the exit you arent supposed to take which.. is barely marked.. add in the do/dont parkways in ny and over in nj and the "Take this tunnel" "Noooo no trucks in this tunnel" etc etc. Lordy. I drove a bedbugger up through there last and we had 14 heaart attacks. Luckily my buddy was from the area (and loved the number nine lmao) so we took US 9 somehow to get throug hall the bs. Though at that point i was so burnt on being there i wsant even sure what state i was in. I can drive chicago with my eyes closed (its not bad at all once youre used to it and since the 24/7 construction cleared up) but yall can have nyc

NY as a rule posts its bridge heights one foot lower than actual height. I guess this just in case they have to repave the roadway.

    Speedloader Thanks this.

20 + years ago I took trainees for their first trips to NYC in a large car. I used to tell them lot's a stuff but first and foremost was that if you came up to a sign that said 13-6 actual AND it had new ashpalt underneath, then go REAL slow and look up ...... new black top will add 2-4 inches IF the old black top wasn't ground off ..... don't EVER expect that the sign department will be on the same page as the re-paving department !!!

Apparently, NYC is now measuring from the ground to the lowest point of the underpass using lasers .... I can't confirm this, but it is apparently being done with a 3-D laser program. DON'T expect 100% accurate height signs any time soon !!! Hope for the best, but plan for the worst !!!!

You can say that again. And don't rely on GPS to guide you through there. Tunnels are off limits for trucks.

Girl, I know you want this $$$$.
