No.1 I feel likewise about you. No.2 How does someone elses actions make life harder on you? I've never had a DOT man say because someone did this or that i'm going to make life harder on you. No.3 You really read me wrong, anything I say on this forum,i'm more than willing to back up in person. Have a great day! I just do not care for dime droppers.

Easy to be like you, cut corners and screw everybody else.

I already explained how it makes legal moves look bad because so many clowns have done boot legging loads now the DOT thinks everyone is doing it.

Now if this is needed to be repeated just read my last two post, then read it again and again.

I seriously doubt face to face you would be such a smart ###

Common sense, which I guess is lacking in certain places apparently.
I have been ranted at by a DOT cop due to someone elses screw up and blatant retardation. It tars us all with the same brush, and if you dont get that, then not a lot I can say about it because pretty much everyone else here gets it just fine.

Guntoter, I never said I knew how it should be or probably is, I was just stating I found that hard to believe, then again it is California. I was kinda posing it more as a question than as a statement. (I guess I could have worded it better) How can one learn about these things without asking questions?

I think it would be stupid of me to take the word of someone on here that just admitted to running illegal. If you know that you need 50 different city permits why did you take the load if it didn't pay for permits?

I wasn't trying to argue anything with you, I was hoping some one else would chime in and give me there insight on it. I'm on here to learn all I can about trucking. I know I'm newer to this and I still learn stuff everyday out here.

And how does you running illegal make all truckers look bad? Because for every driver they catch running illegal they think there's 1000's more. If one county or city cop catches you he will automatically think all od/ow loads coming through there jurisdiction are running illegal. Haven't you ever had a cop ask you about something and then say we just had a guy come through that had whatever that thing was wrong.

ATS, Warren, Landstar, Lonestar, Bennett (and a couple South Texas carriers) all have terminals northwest of Laredo on Mines Rd. a year or so ago, I pulled out of our Laredo yard with an oversized. Got to the first stoplight on Mines and a black and white gave me the blue light special and pulled me over. He wanted to look at my permit. I gave him the permit, he walked around the truck and handed it back to me and set me free.

the next week, another one pulls me. The next week, I get pulled again. I am sitting on the yard with a bunch of our drivers. I tell them all that the black and whites have a hard on for oversized and to not leave the yard without your permits. If you don't have a printer, ask another driver if you can get your permits sent to him and printed off. Don't try to make it to the truck stops. Well, apparently it sounded like a challenge to one driver. He got in his truck and took off. Another driver comes into the yard and tells us that the DOT got one of our guys on Mine and the company wanted him to drop his trailer and go bring the load back into the yard. The driver that got caught got his permit voided and ticketed and Texas would not reissue his truck a permit. "Friend, didn't I just warn you 5 minutes ago not to leave the yard without your permit?" He says, "I thought that you was just telling truck driver tales."

i can't remember the route, I believe it's hwy 44 to 50 (the way you go around the Florida turnpike...get off at the Wildwood exit, go east on what I think is 44, then south on US27 to hwy 50 east). Had a crane move to Haines City, oversized. Had a Florida DOT on 27 pull me just to see the permit, "You wouldn't believe the number of big ol fancy trucks that come through here without a permit. I'm glad for your sake you have a permit."

I will admit it, there were times in the past where I would bootleg. Nowadays the tickets are freakin H U G E. I'm not going to call you names if you bootleg. I'm not going to do it,because its bad for my long term business.

Really? We used a permit for the turnpike, once. We knew it was wrong, but we had a "permit". We took our 12' load, down the turnpike. One lady in a booth, said, "Lemme see!" We showed her our permit. On that permit, we were legal.

We shouldn't have done it. We've gone out of our way to be legal, since. We've paid and followed all routes. What happens if you ignore a route and hit something? I don't want to pay for that, thanks.

You ever have to go through Brooklyn? With an OS load? Without an escort? You'll need a permit and all Google.

Yep, yep, yep! We pay for permits. This describes the guy who needs an inspection.

I always tell drivers, " the most valuable thing that you have is your name." It's on your paycheck, it's on the BOL, it's on your truck, it's on the driving award the cop gave you. Your name is even more important to you when it's on your truck title. If you drive for Maverick or TMC, you are less conspicuous than say, some of these owner ops. What about someone like passingthru69? Bet no one else has a truck like his on the whole site. Easily recognizable. When you drive a truck that's so conspicuous, you have to really be on top of your game. You have to be the consummate professional.
Bootlegging? You don't even give it a second thought.

I got stopped in IL twice while I was empty. Both times the trooper had me get out of my truck (bobtail) and asked about the engine and what year it was. Never asked anything else except for info on the truck. Said "nice truck u got there. Have a safe trip" lol
