Many company recruiting brochures distinguish between OTR and Regional. I've been interested in OTR with the hope that I would drive around all 48 of the lower states, and maybe even Canada. But, I've was told by a Schneider trucker who's also from California that only teams get cross country dispatches and that solo drivers will only wander around the western states. Do companies dispatch a national loop in the 10-14 days the driver is put on the road? This doesn't seem too difficult to do, or is it?

Solo drivers still go cross country, but it will probably depend on what company you go with. My boyfriend runs back and forth all over the country, although he does tend to stay in the bottom half of the map.

When I drove solo otr, I saw both the Pacific, and the Atlantic Ocean, in a short span.:yes2557:

I used to be regional, then before I quit, I changed it to national. Beware of regional. Regional means that you have to stay within a loop, and when you start to reach the walls of that loop, they have to reel you back in, Your Miles won't be so great.
Say, if you do all 48, and you haul dry van.... you could pick up some cigs from Winston Salem, and Hall them to California. (just an example) You won't always get really long runs like that, but you can if you do all 48, and you can't if you're regional.:biggrin_25525:
