That sucks!! What state are you base plated out of? I am trying to find someone who has actually installed a PM filter on a 6NZ Cat. I found a guy in Lancaster, CA who is a Cat guru and says my motor will run fine with a certain brand of filter. I can't remember which brand of filter he said. He is going to be charging 17 grand to install the PM fliters. 17 grand is a hell of a lot cheaper than 150 grand for a new truck with a Cummins scr motor that will give me fits and have no power I figure. The whole situation sucks.

 

What's funny, on the CARB website it has a list when model engine years are non compliant and need a DPF filter. Your truck, 2004 should have had a filter by the beginning of this year. But when you called, they said if you pre registered you would be good until the end of this year. My friend that lives and runs here in California has a 98, his truck has a certificate until the end of this year too. But on the website, the chart shows his truck was due for a DPF by the start of 2012.

No where on the CARB website does it say a thing about a extending the rules, but yet CARB is giving guys a new certificate if your registered, but not telling anyone about it. My friends 98 has been given 2 years more then the deadline says, but nothing on the website tells you this. He has the certificate in his truck.

A little fishy CARB is about there rules if you ask me. Lots of BS and seems they do what they want. The give you rules, then extend the rules, but don't post it on the website or tell anyone about it

 

The extended time periods could have been gotten if you had read the sections of the rules that apply to small fleets. The small fleet exceptions allow the gradual replacement or modification of both tractors and trailers.

 

You shouldn't even have to ####### worry about older trucks because they're not allowed to regulate interstate commerce...it's total BS idk how they're getting away with. God I hate that state

 

I was reading those certain models of the dpf filters have caused fires, truck burn up and all.
One maker went bankrupt. I'm carb compliant by staying out of ca. nothing there I seen the time I went.

 

Yeah one makers burnt down like an entire forest and stuff...I wanna say it burnt some homes too? Or had people evacuate I can't remember but yeah that was the one that went bankrupt.

 

I was driving down the 10 freeway the other day and saw one of these trucks doing a regen, at least that is what i was hoping it was doing, and it was puffing so much black smoke it looked like it was on fire. How is that better for the environment?

 

Is there any exception for antique trucks ??? Just wondering .............
