I don't know guys. I'm sitting at the Gary terminal and last night I talked to a flatbedder who was fueling up. It was a newbie and a trainer and I asked them if they do much driving in the NE, and they said that's about all they do is drive around up there. Didn't sound good.
Possible move from Van to Flatbed. What are the differences?

Drove flatbed for 7 mnts out of gary indiana..only went east maybe 3,4 tyms..alot of ..ky il,oh,pa,wv,pa pa pa oh...lol....

In a year and a half with Roehl, I have only picked up or delivered twice when I wasn't launching or headed home. If I had a steady diet of NE I would leave, I could be home every weekend if I wanted to put up with driving around here.

I have been east one trip since I came back in October.

flatbed is the place to be.

I don't like ne either, been up there alot latley, been out midwest this time out, I asked my fm about south east regional and she told me they didn't hire for it anymore, but said if it was a situation of that or I quit then someone could be put there, but I like 14/7 so that's where im staying

I'd say for every one flatbedder that is in the NE there's 5-6 van drivers there. So to say I'm quitting tarp stretching bc van does less of the NE, spsh good luck with that. And northeast is ok as long as you get in and get out. I used to hate eastern PA but been there so much I'm quite fond of it now. For me no NYC, Jersey, CT and Mass. Other than that I don't mind.

Lmao.... late with my reply but that just cracked me up.

Jeez Louise. If you want to do it. Do it. If you don't. Don't. If you do it and don't like it you can go back. I can tell you that I went east on flats a lot less than the van drivers based out of Marshfield. I didn't mind going to NYC once in a while. It was a challenge. Those are the loads you remember and gives you stories to tell. I remember the job site deliveries in Manhattan a lot more than some drop and hook at a paper mill. The good thing about flats in NYC is they unload you from the road with a fork lift or a crane. -
Personaly I love flatbed, before i started running this dedicated account on flatbed. The shear variety of places i went to made it intresting. Delivering Military equip to the port is fun. Steel beams to job sites that have a crane waiting for you to pull in. Unloaded just as quick as i can unstrap the load.
I personaly wouldn't want to go van or reefer.
