I think Mark doesn't care (you can always call and ask him)..but I wouldn't cross a Scale, I always logged it, except one time and never heard anything about i, that was 120ml.

Personal Conveyance is a bit iffy, especially if you have a trailer. And they have always paid me to drive home.
Bottom Line if you will havethe Hours, log it assuming you will be doing a 34 anyway. If not enough hours, go around the scale(s), I wouldn't want to argue with the DOT guy.

Was gonna post, checked under the Bunk, there is a big freaking box, nothing obvious wrong with it, no switches or breakers on or in it.
I'm going to Call everybody's favorite Mechanic in NA in a little bit, to see if he has any ideas....since it's running good it is probaply something simple.

I'm always logged on too, I just really don't want to have to take a 10 just to drive home, but I have 2 scales to cross, so I'd better.

I called Iowa and Missouri highway patrol and talked with commercial vehicle enforcement. They both said that if you have a trailer, whether empty or not, they consider you working. So you have to be logged in and legally able to drive.

I was going to say call DOT and ask. They should know better then most of use old paper jockeys...lol. I log off but I go from the yard to my house. Sometimes I gave a trl but I log that to Johnson corners then drop the trl and log off and go home. Personnel conveyance is the biggest gray area in the book. But my understanding is you can log off from your home terminal to home and back but must log your drive time if you are pulling a trl, empty or loaded. Can not be laiden, under a load, or dispatch which means you must log your drive time. I do my best to only be bobtail on personnel conveyance and to log off and log on at the same location. I argue every time I run out of hours getting loaded or empty with Jonny about logging off to go to a truck stop as only DOT can tell you to do so.

Well as far as logging out to go to the nearest t/s, I do that when I have to. I've asked a couple of officers about it. They said as long as it was really to the closest t/s then its ok. If the customer won't let you stay on their property, nothing you can do about it.

But the thing I don't like is it doesn't say anything in the book about it. That's the grey part I'm talking about. I have ask some officers and some say no some say yes. I just prefer not to do it.

If i need to go home and i am not under dispatch then that's what i am going to do. They want to control everything they should start w shippers who cant get their crap together. We take more responsibility that shippers and receivers combined w all rules n regulations. Meaning FMCSA not FROW to be clear.
