I think the fact that it was OH is the deciding factor, they hate trucks and truckers.

Easy to do, the trailer tandems are a fulcrum, when you take weight off the trailer it transfers weight to the drives.Numb Thanks this. -
My rule from the University of Hard Knocks is I never trust any shipper, any load past 25 gets scaled and must be a certified scale.
When I was young my largest ticket was near, 2,900.00 dollarsNumb Thanks this. -
How much were you over to muster that type of butt whooping?
"Do what thou wilt." -
Cannot recall the exact number, but a few extra Maryland DOT stopped by to see that much on the scales. It was a day that all the DOT people liked, the shipper said it did not weigh that much.

My last job, another driver got hit with a $9000 overweight fine in CT. he was in a roll off tri axle, didn't have the tag down. I don't know how much over, but we were all told after that, if we get hit and tags not down its on the driver. He had gone around a tight corner and forgot to put it back down, in a spot where DOT always sits. I think around Putnam CT, it was scrap metal.

Loaded 43000 of metal spools today, looked at load and thought about the tip, get rear of load to center of tandems, the tandems were way forward of rear of load...I pulled handle, pins came right out, I was so excited, get in and it won't slide...I shoot WD all over the rails, rock the truck, put my 40lb rock(that I carry just for this) to chock my wheels and still can't move them...So, I figure I'll go to scale 4 miles away and see how it looks, try again to move them if need be and if not, go back and try to reload it...I couldn't think of another option(but always hoped they would break free between all of that)...Turned out to scale out perfectly and ended up being a good thing I couldn't move them...I would have put it out of whack!...
Here's another question...This trailer doglegs something terrible, so bad, I had a left rear tandem blowout yesterday and all I saw was rubber chunks flying until I turned wheel to left so I could get 'normal' view of tandems...I'm thinking this doglegging has to put stress on the rails the tandems move on, could this jam them up?...I'm pretty good at breaking free stuck tandems, it's why I carry the big rock in case a curb isn't available...I've tried chocks, it can drag them when heavy or run them over, it won't ride over 'the rock'...My delivery is 5miles from my home at 930 so I came home for dinner, and some posts and will be redtagging the trailer when I take it to yard tonight after I'm empty...I'm going to try and move them when I'm empty as well, just to see... -
I beg to differ; this site also shows the "bridge" lengths. kingpin-rear axle.

My rule of thumb is to weigh anything over 30,000.
Also if you have trouble sliding the weight it will sometimes help to lower the landing gear if your moving the 5th wheel.
