would this work? tarping question

    We have a regular customer that has freight 24-26 feet long and always 4-5 feet high. It can be a birch to tarp because I have a four piece system with 8 foot drops. I was thinking of getting a 26 long tarp with 5 foot drops and 5 foot.front flap. Then get two rows of d rings a foot and two feet from bottom. Permanently install bungees on the top row. Use it with a smoke tarp on the back. Would be a real time saver.


    My question is would the bungees wreck the tarp when I roll it up? Rope is another option but I don't see it working with the sliders on my trailer.

    I wouldn't think the bungees would hurt the tarp as long as it isn't moving around when its stowed.

    bungies on both sides and 26ft, make it a real pain to fold and roll.workable yes fun no.

    I'm not sure I have a good understanding but I would think that the extra time it takes to roll the tarp would be about the same as walking around hanging the straps on the tarp. What about breakage or if you need the tarp for a different purpose?

    I have a four piece system that only ever gets used for this specific customer. It takes a lot.of extra time folding up two large tarps and don't forget all the redundant bungees due to 10 ft of overlap and 4 ft of overhang on sides and flaps. Plus it could be very light material, just needs the wind off it a little water wont hurt as its wrapped in plastic.

    I'd use high quality polyurethane bungees, even if they do break they can be replaced. Just open the hook and take it off.

    The problem would come in, not when folding it, but unrolling it. Youre up on a trailer with a tarp with bungees hanging off. Bungees would be hooking anything and everything...other bungees, the wrong d-rings, belt loops, shoe laces. If youre going to get hurt flatbedding, odds are when you are up on that trailer. Do you really want to add to the peril of the most dangerous part of the job?

    Have you considered flexible rope for the top bungees? It would roll up the the tarp easily.

    Id get 2 end flaps if its always within a foot or so, nothing like having the right tarp.for thr job.
