    Thank You, for your Service.
Keep your eyes and ears open , your mouth shut. If it sounds fishy , it probably is .
But , you know all that.

    Thanks,
That is always good advice. Luckily I am not a know it all and am willing to listen and learn.

I am packing lite, but what are some essentials I should bring for training

Jeeze ! A wad of cash would probably be best .and don't tell anyone you have it. I know nothing about May , 'cept their trucks are clean , and go slow.
Most of the time , ( way back when ) , you went from orientation, into a truck , with a trainer. Some allowed you to go home first , some didn't.
I remember one guy , after training , first thing he did , was go buy a chain drive wallet , to put all the money he was gonna make in, and a CB , so he could talk .
Take cash. You can buy what you end up needing , and , if it doesn't work out for you , a way home.
Traveling light is always a good idea , especially in a company truck.

I used to work and train for May Trucking. Traveling lite is good. A duffle bag, sleeping bag/pillow and toiletry bag is about all you NEED. Of course, you are going to have your cell phone and 12v charger. Other than that, bring cash as the other gentleman mentioned.

Then again, you could always change your mind now and not go into trucking at all ;-)

    Thank You for yer Service!

Keep your driving record CLEAN. No tickets, no accidents ... CLEAN. Then, after a year, go look and apply at an experienced only Trucking Firm. May is Entry Level and treat ya that way .. Total Micro Managing.

Thank you for your service first and foremost.

Because of your military background, i think you'll handle your driving school just fine.

My only advice would be to get all your endorsements when you take your test (even if you don't think you'll need them)

and take your time backing up if you're practicing on pups (27' trailers) because they come back around alot faster than 48 and 53 footers

good luck and keep us updated on your progress
