I broke down outside of the construction, eastbound on I40 at the 210mm. These guys argued with me about droppping the drive shaft, then took their sweet ##### time running me back to the Volvo dealer in Little Rock on US70. Took 4 hours from the time they arrived till I was at the shop. 70 miles=715 dollars?! My breakdown dept estimated it would be like $500 from their experience.

Not to mention the fact they stopped in Hazen for about 20 mins so the one driving could have a smoke, while I sat and asked the other dude why the hell we are sitting here?!

My breakdown dept told me no one else could come at the time. These guys were our last resort. Still, if I break down in that area again I think I will wait as long as it takes for another company.

$120.00 to hook probably, that's $8.50 a mile. What's the issue? What was the issue with the drive shaft? I'm not saying your complaint is with out merit, buy 5-6 bucks a mile is usually charged. What was the break down of the bill? Let's not forget, $70.00 to drop the drive shaft. More details please!

You got off cheap. I ended up getting towed last year. Did a rear tow. Little over over 35 miles one way. Over $650 dollars, no driveshaft removal. That doesn't include another trucking company hauling my oversize, overweight load to town as well.
RogueX Thanks this. -
Thats about the goin rate. Towing from front, they do have to drop shaft. Unless u want burned tranny or diffs.

What was reason for breakdown?

I hope the OP didn't expect a rollback to pick up his truck for a $35 hook up fee plus $1.90 a mile

It's a semi, not a Honda Civic. I had to have my crew cab dually towed 15 miles once. I thought I was going to have to pay a premium rate, but was pleasantly surprised to learn it was only going to cost me $70. It was more convenient to have it towed home, then it was to fix the belt tensioner on the road at 10pm. -
If had a big wrecker I would have a $1000.00 minimum charge. Thats what I currently have on short loads when people call. I wont even crank my truck up for less than $1000.00
Licensed to kill Thanks this. -
Ok, looks like I shouldn't be complaining about the rate. Sorry Rick's. But they were arguing with me about dropping the shaft, and the stop at their yard was very uneccessary. They weren't doing anything but talking and taking a smoke break on my time. Worst part is, when we finally left their shop and were headed in to Little Rock the guy said he was glad I made them drop the shaft because he neglected to do it once before and cost the tow company $7000! Why the argument in the first place then??
