3.2 - 3.8 hours the 3 times. I have never had a TV in my truck in 8 years out here. I don't even carry a DVD player. My cooler is an ice chest. I won't even charge my phone if the engine isn't running.

    Here's how it hurts:
You make 2 cents per mile less which is $50 for a 2500 mile week or $2600 less pay per year.
If that isn't bad enough, you will receive less social security benefits when you retire as well.
You're 401K will have less going in too.
The only thing you are doing is benefitting SNI. Per diem only makes sense if you don't take a pay cut.
Sure, you pay less taxes. But that's because you make less money. Per diem only gives you the illusion of more money.
Why anyone would choose to work for 2 cents per mile less is beyond my comprehension.
Opt out of per diem ASAP, unless you believe in subsidizing SNI.

    DADof3 and BossOutlaw88 Thank this.

Let's do basic math with no deductions with my pay. OK.. .42¢ x 2500=$1050-35%=$682 per diem. .16¢x2500=$400 +. .24¢x2500=$390 add those to up $790 that's using 35% tax so in the end I make more on per diem because lower tax amount

A glider is a new chassis with a rebuilt engine in it. A customer buys the chassis (cab, frame, transmission, etc) without the engine and then puts in their own engine. When you buy the truck all it can do is "glide" down the road, hence why they're called gliders.

If the temperature is below 45 degrees the low voltage disconect in my 2013 Casscadia kicks in after three to four hours with ONLY the bunk heater running.

Finally I will once again post my "I have too much time on my hands per diem chart". With all other tax issues being equal most SNI drivers loose between $1,000 and $2,000 in after tax dollars.

Another question: I picked up a load from a shipper. I'm dropping it at the OC to be relayed so I can have my days off. Do I need to transflow the paper work?
