Using the Garmins for a while, I have found that disabling "mytrends" helps with routing.
Not sure why the units do this, but when you get close to a road or route you have used in the past, it will try and have you use these roads again.
Makes for some very strange routes.

I haven't seen any difference one way or the other using that feature. Maybe I am just not seeing the effects of it when enabled or don't recognize it when it's "active". Is it really making that big of a difference?

Okay, my Smartlink decided to actually work today and the first thing that popped up was a storm alert for the Phillips area very early this morning. However, bring up the weather alert storm map page continues to show nothing with regard to active watches, warnings, or advisories. I don't if this due to the incompatibility issues vis-a-vis my phone or an internal issue with the device. So some input on this please.

Thanks for that info. Waiting for a good wifi spot before downloading the map up grade. Have you seen any of the restriction poi issues addressed or just same o same o?

I haven't noticed anything different Mark. When are the new maps coming out??

Usually every couple quarters if you register your device they'll email u with map and system updates

Yep. Also, with a registered device on the [my dashboard] page on the Garmin website- if you have signed up for that (free). The updater software does not do maps, these have to be downloaded from the website- usually through the computer to the device. If any of you does not have an account on the Garmin website, it is something you need to get. Keeps track of your registered devices and subscriptions licensed to that device like speed and red light camera poi subscriptions.

I have been using the garmin for about a month now. freezes up every once in a while but no real issue. just hit return arrow and then back to map and it fixs itself. Only bad issue I had was going thru nebraska on 80 last week and EVERY bridge going over the interstate had a weight limit and the garmin posted it on the interstate. Never seen a interstate with a 10 ton limit. had to clear and accept about 30 warnings. even received warning for a 10 ton bridge where there wasn't even a bridge. may need to update my unit.

Rough day for the 760. Screen kept wigging out and getting black patches and one time went totally black. As SMK said, you just had to go back and hit View Map again but it does concern me. Especially after it just shut itself off again.

I posted on that a while back and talked to GCS about it as well. Supposedly the blank page was forwarded to the tech weenies. This is a redraw issue and I don't know why it takes momentarily refreshing it by moving to another page then back. The restrictions issue has got to be a map issue and I know they know about this. But you guys need to call and email them I like I do and keep harping on this. Got to keep the issues in front of them.
