Lease a trailer or buy one?

What type of trailer?

 

For $350 a month plus .04cpm I would go buy my own. If you put on 10,000 miles a month that is another $400 per month, so $750 a month for a dry van is a rip off.

 

There's a ton of used vans for sale. You should be able to find one < $5,000 that's roadworthy. You'll spend that in 8 months on a lease, AND you can still turn around and sell that van in a couple years, maybe for not much less than you bought it for.

 

Hold on, you're saying 750 is a rip off? All the people i talk too say thats good. As a matter of fact i would lease at that price if I found it. If its cheapers please share the knowledge.

 

I can lease a curtainside for $850 which would give me alot more freight options than a dryvan, so yes $750 for a dryvan is crap. I have found flatbeds for $650 with no mileage charge.

A $7500 trailer for 24 months is a $340ish per month payment.

 

Why would you lease one for that when you can buy a nice used one for half that per month? And with buying one you can better plan a tax strategy with depreciation vs just writing off lease payments.

 

no thx. i dont need a website to calculate athough you may have urs bookmarked. u pay 340"ish" a month and i walk up to them with 6200 cash an buy it. amortize it. truck paid for with cash money, nothing is financed here buddy. until then, i will do power only.
