yes when they bid on a state job in ny they must pay prevailing wage to the driver usually by certified payroll .the company knows this when they bid the job.nobody is forcing company to bid the job.this doesn't mean the company has to join the union .

Hey Rubberdown, I used to drive for WE Care in Weedsport. I know a driver that lived over by Fultonville and was still home almost every night. I was running out of the Oneida area. They do a lot of loads out of the Albany area back to the Waterloo landfill. They also do a lot out of NYC if the weekend is all u want home. Anyway they were pretty good guys to run for, I just got tired of the landfill.
RubberDown Thanks this. -
Appreciate the info on wecare cowman, im not sure how their business is now i see alot of their trucks and trailers that have gotta do contracting on the side of them. Dont see nearly as much of their trucks on the thruway anymore. Maybe it has something to do with mbi coming in and buying up everything they can get their hands on.. santaro.. riccellis trash trailers.. sunshine.. dont remember the last time i saw one of karl johnsons rigs..
-
Yeah I thought Santaro went out, but didn't realize the others did too. Maybe Karl Johnsons are doing more over in the Vermont area then, where they are homebased. Yeah I knew We care was starting up Gotta do as a 2nd company, didn't know they were switching everything.
-
I had heard rumours that Karl Johnson bought Santaro's out after they were shut down, then both got swallowed by MBI. I still see Karl Johnson's 4-axle trailers running around as well as Santaro but both are now behind MBI's red T800 daycabs.

I saw one of those red trucks today pulling a flatbed with a load of hardwood logs...?

I dont believe riccelli is hauling trash anymore, about the time mbi bought santato, i noticed most of riccelli's waste trailers over in east syracuse at santaros, now see mbi's trucks still pulling some of them. I pretty much just see riccelli pulling their dumpers with daycabs now
-
Sometimes it seems hard to figure out whose running who with all that though, come to think of it i parked next to a mmr truck the other week in waterloo and the trailers reg sticker said riccelli enterprises on it, and i saw a few laidlaw trucks the other day that have page etc on the side and back, didnt know they were partnered
