Anyone who isn't being provided a copy of the rate confirmation when they want one should be concerned about that, imho...

I am sure the rate conformation can be fudged if need be.

I managed this load from AL to CA. Filled up the back of the trailer in AR and managed $14K to the truck for the trip. That was my best load to date, and it will be hardfor me to top it!!!

Ok, I can understand deadheading a few hundred miles to pick up something, if it's paying like that...dannythetrucker Thanks this. -
Ever considered a low carb diet?

Yeah,it all makes sense when you compare apples to apples. When equipment is reliable and DOT ready. One thing to consider is a late model tractor would give you a chance to improve fuel economy. There is a difference between 7 and 9 mpg. Or an option of working in CA if anybody wants to go there that is.

A new truck also needs def (except for some Internationals). So that is an added expense over an old truck. Also, you have much higher insurance on a new truck because you are insuring for a higher value.
I have owned 2 new trucks. Nowadays, new trucks can have serious emissions related issues.
I have kept my 2003 for 10 years (no egr). It is dependable.
I was leased to a big fleet that buys new trucks. They are governed at 62 mph and have electric heat /air. So they have low idle time . They have very few owner/operators. On my fuel tax statements it stated the fleet average fuel economy is 6.3 mpg.
You don't need a new truck to get good fuel economy. If you have an older non-egr engine you can most likely get good fuel economy by driving slowly etc. And you won't spend money on def and egr repairs. -
im a lease operator with a 2013 Volvo 780. I here bout this don't haul cheap freight daily. I have been a driver since 1995 all company til last 2 yrs. with a 2100 a month payment insurance sat permits etc. including my home bills I netted 57,240 last year this year will net 72,000. my loads are 2.49 per mile with many of them 3.00 to 3.44per mile. thats being leased to a 300 truck company with loads in all 48 states. I even give up 33% of the rev. im not sure what cheap is. I make a good living running how im running so I have no complaints. so maybe im missing something.
