So it's considered a step in the right direction, then, when government gains another level of control over us? You're out of your ####### mind.

It does not matter what the government's intentions are when the intentions and the results don't match.

Steve, where are you????? guess it finally made sense now!! the backlash from other American small business owners made you understand the real topic and that is Government Intervention, yes we want safe roads, yes we want Semi's in legal working condition but not a small business in this country that rolls to make a profit, interfered by agent's that you and i pay for! He found nothing, he should've let me go without a warning, in matter of fact folks, he gave me a sheet of paper about the stop, did not say warning, points applied, court date, just say that he found 14 hour violations? Interesting and thanks for your responses! I knew something was fishy but monday i'll give bossman the report.

They made the farmers get DOT numbers because they grain/cargo they haul to the elevators is destined for out of state/foreign ports. Therefore it is considered interstate freight. You can run
tax exempt license plates but must get a dot number. -
Does florida allow longer hours for intrastate drivers? I know California does (12/16/80 vs 11/14/70), but to qualify as intrastate the load must originate and terminate in state. So if you were to relay an interstate load to the state line, you would be bound by federal hos rules even if you never left california. You would also have to be at least 21 years old instead of 18.
Maybe something like this was what he was getting at? -

If you pick up a trailer that's inside your state and move it to the other side, but never cross the state lines, you ARE by definition, "intrastate". What the package it's wrapped in, or where it originally came from... is irrelevant.MNdriver, Driver of the year and JPenn Thank this. -
Cops will always try and find some loop hole to ticket, warnings whatever to the trk drivers.
