With any company you have to prove yourself before receiving the miles.Your dispather is'nt going to give to miles if you can't be ontime either to the shipper or receiver. You'll be put at the bottom of the list and have to work your way up which in trucking could be along time.Being ontime is a huge deal in trucking.Carriers have to pay fines for lateloadss which comes out of the drivers pay or they lose a valuable customer. Also communication is a big deal. Many drivers don't keep the dispatchers posted on their ETA like they are suppose to which makes it for a very unhappy dispatcher then before you know it,you're on their sht list as well as the companies.

True but the majority of the drivers that don't like trucking applied for OTR.Companies ask where you wanna run,you say OTR means a month out you say regional, dedicated you are home more.Just depends where you wanna run.If drivers are OTR and don't like it because of the pay or not home more, then they need to tell their company. How is it suppose to get better for theses drivers if they don't say anything. {QUOTE=jlkklj777;3046204]I disagree with your premise entirely. Their are Line Haul jobs available that get drivers home regularly (some every night, others every other night). Their are regional operations that get drivers home weekly. Their are dedicated accounts where drivers service 1 customer and are home regularly. There are intermodal operators and port operators that have more home time as well. Find the niche that best works for you.

Being away from home for weeks on end is not necessary. If you CHOOSE to spend all that time on the road away from your family and friends then so be it. Just remember it is your CHOICE.[/QUOTE]

been there...done that. Kids in dispatch. they'll route you thru baltimore on xmas eve during rush hour. The company has major "in-house" problems and don't know how to fix it. Best wishes if you're driving an electronic beast with radar in the bumper and rollover stability package...It's alil early , so hang tight and see if you can't work around the lack of.......

I'm home almost every weekend and I made a little over 60k last year.
The first year I had my lisence, I made $48,000.
And that was before CSA. I blame the whole thing on the driving schools and people being willing to work for .25 cpm. It's insane. And it drags everyone's wages down. It's the #1 reason why freight rates are being held to an artificially low level.

Another thang that arnold is noted for. REPOWERING !! They constantly give loads out to drivers with elec log looking at their screen , knowing this driver doesnt have the hours. Then,,,they call you. Is half a load better than none? It's a drivers call here. However, if and when you get a good haul, once you're underway, shutoff your phone and be sure not to look at your qual while driving. Atleast 10% of repowers is where a driver gives them lip service and they want to flex their muscle by taking his load by way of repower.

POINT out where I've EVER "bashed" USX? I haven't "bashed" them at all, just disapproved of SOME of the practices OF THEIR DRIVERS. Sorry for making too much sense. If the nuance of my point eludes you, perhaps you should re-read this until it finally makes sense. Thanks.
