Switching companies help

Are you already in with the new gig? If so, turn in your notice. Offer a two week notice. Question for you...why is it that you only ran 25 k in half a year. Only the 13 axles or bigger run such few miles. That's like barely over a thousand miles a week!

 

Personally cowboy,the company you're at don't deserve a 2 weeks notice.You may be chancing it if you do.Not many if any give your company any kind of a notice and they're still rehireable.Just make sure trk gets back to the terminal in good shape.

 

I think they'll pay for your busticket back home.They did mine anyway.

 

I havent been job hunting for many years been at current job 14 years..back when I started late80's about all employers that hired green horns treated em all the same..my advise is stick it out until you get a couple years exp. then you will have better luck getting something better...the grass is not always greener on the other side...this is just my opinion..I switched quite a few times when I was starting and very seldom bettered myself..maybe got a longer hood or a penny a mile but took 11 years to land a great job..job jumping usually hurts you in the long run..we just turned down a guy with 8 years exp cause he had 4 jobs in the last 2 years

 

Unbelievable. I'm reading through this thread and the bottom line is the guy is asking how to gracefully quit his company without getting screwed by the company. Seems like the Feds are all about passing laws yet they apparently don't give a rats behind about how unprofessional Professional Drivers are treated.

 

Nope now now not ever will the feds care about how the drivers are being treated.Anyone with half a brain has to know something is deffinately wrong when they look at turnover rates.

 

Be careful about what u decide to do. If your company helps I get home, great. Most will end up stranding you more than likely. I ran into an old friend that drove with my old company. He said he got stranded just because he refused to lease but he never quit nor was he termed. They just wouldn't give him a company truck. He wanted to go home but they wouldnt provide a bus ticket. so he notified the company he was calling his lawyer since he still was employed by them and apparently they also cut off his comdata card. The company didn't want that to happen so they gave him a bus ticket home. That's what I call strong arming!

Also, if you do go home first and quit, leaving the truck at your house or a truck stop will likely be called truck abandonment which will look bad on your DAC. Be sure that would be alright with them first. If you do go home and quit, be sure to leave the truck in a nearby yard if they got one. That way if they call it abandonment you could fight it off your record.
