They're still there. They've been disabling them. I'm sure some are still in working condition. I've noted that the ones that have disabled water at the fountain all have the barrel of bottled water at the checkout.

When the truck stop is full and I'm about out of hours, then yes I'll pay for that reserved parking spot at the TA or Petro. It has come in handy several times when I needed it.

FWIW, I'd rather drink bottled water than water out of a tap out here on the road. I'm not a fan of cloudy water, personally.

If your sam's club member it's 3.98 for 48 12 ounce bottle of water, i drink lot's water on the road , along for cooking and stuff,, i thought that was pretty cheap, so i grab 3 , take one on the road with me, still can't figure why that lady payed 2.98 for a bottle water, just because it say's aquafina on it.

Walmart carries those bottles of Ozarka water that are the size thats just under a gallon for $1. I keep several of these on the truck. I refill them at home since they have the screw on lids. In the mornings I fill up my 64oz mug with ice and water at the Pilot then during the heat of the summer I will refill my mug 4 or 5 times with the water that I have onboard.

Gotta be frugal out on the road!

And if you look at the label it will tell you the source of the water.

The water may be from the city but it is filtered many many times before being bottled, they actually add minerals back in to it for flavor. Here in California we have water stores which have a reverse osmosis system in the back. People take their 5 gallon jugs and get them filled for 25 cents a gallon. Tastes just as good as bottled.

We all know that truckstops exist to take money out of your pocket. The shower credits and fuel card points are nice to get. But the earned points seem to be going down. The water spigot at the drink fountains are starting to be shut off. I've never been hasseled for taking a small drink cup and filling it with ice and water from the sink tap at the coffee bar. I take it to the cashier and tell them what i did. No problem (yet). As a side note: I also use their microwave to heat my dinners that I bring from home. I ask before I do this and have never been told no. I get spring water from the grocery store, it's $.88 a gallon and Iknow it's clean and pure and easy to stow in the truck.
