in fear they would send me way out of the way to get out of the truck. i lied and said i was in need a leave of absence for medical reason but once i got to grand rapids, mi yards. i informed company i was quitting over the qualcomm. i got a reply back asking if i would come up to main building. so i went up and met with my dm and op manager. they wanted to know why i was leaving.... my response was as followed......hmmmmmm 28cpm(4cent to per diem total 34 but actual pay 28cpm) 1200 to 1600 miles a week, 200, 300, 400, mile runs but mostly 300mi trips every blue moon 500mi or more. horrible paychecks. ask me again why i'm leaving. they responded if we give you 2cent pay increase would that make you wanna stay? so from 28cent actual pay to 30....NO!!! but if you can promise me in writing 2200miles a week atleast or a base salary if i don't hit those miles i'll stay. he said he can't do that. i said ok well were i'm going the pay is gonna be 44cpm and a sliding pay scale for short haul runs under 400miles. i ask can i get you to match or even come close to that 44cpm mile. he shook his head no i waived my hand goodbye and went and finish packing my truck stuff into my car. so it don't seem i'm a super service hater i can say their OK people in that office in grand rapids but the way they run that company is not to benefit the driver. i wouldn't recommend this company to anyone unless it's the only company calling you and need a job. but be warned they have 250 new trucks in a fleet total size of 1258 trucks their still 1000 old trucks 2006-07 model year falling apart and company runs these old beat up trailers most of the major shipper want load their trailers because of the age of the trailer or just appearance , black mold is in the super service trailers anything starting with 531,544, 548 is a original super service trl and has a wood interior and behind that wood is black mold. company is own by a investment group so their only doing just enough to keep the company going and trying to make it profitable so they can sell it. if you go here don't expect no big pay days, no dedicated runs. 300-400 mi run 1300 to 1700 a week. that was my experience over 18months their. and i came from companies where i did 2500-3000 a week and made 32-37,000 a year to super service and did 19,000 for 2010 and i was always ready for trips they never came. 300mile from trips new jersey to virginia..lol...wow.

Everything sounds the same as when I was there except it sounds like the length of haul has dropped like a rock. My average was around 800 miles inc deadhead.

Good luck to ya and happy trails with your new company.

im surprised that they offered a payraise at all. its rare for me to not get 2500 miles, but i rarely get 3k anymore due to electronic logs. i think he had a bad attitude, which only made things worse.. the info on trlr's is true to some degree, although ive never had a shipper or consignee refuse to load a trlr due to age,but then again i rarely do regular otr loads so we deal w/ different customers.the numbering can vary, you can tell its one of the ###### wood ss trlr's just by its general appearance on the outside.. my 2010 gross wasnt too bad, around 48k..i might not do as well this yr but not much of a difference. bottom line i dont think youll do much better at another otr company, miles are down industry wide due to csa and electronic logs..your best bet is a local ltl company.

my biggest beef w/ them is the terrible maintenance of equipment and even worse is how cheap theyre on breakdown otr type repairs, theyll try to get you to not repair most things even if safety related until at terminal..even if thats weeks away. if you have maintenance done at terminal youll likely be stuck there for a few days..

thiers always one. i'm glad your doing well but i can walk you into any ss term and find you 5 or 6 guys that tell you there barely getting 1600 miles a week. the guy who gave me a ride to my truck at my new company was at superservice 4months ago he left for the same reason i did 1400mile weeks and poorly maintain trucks. were we are now he says he hit 2400 2700 mi weekly and hasn't seen a trip under 500miles since he been here(not superservice) but agian glad your doing well. guess i'll stop posting under superservice i don't work there anymore. good luck to the remaining drivers there.

I have been in this trucking game for over 35 years, and it has always been slow around about the middle of Dec to around the middle of Feb or the first of March. Companys do inventory and cut back on inbound loads, and ther out bound loads as well. If you can get the per mile rate 40 to 42.5 cents per mile, you don't need the high miles as much. Example .42.5 cents X 2100 =892.5 .42.5 X 2300 = 977.5 per week. And still get home on the week-ends or at lease rest at home, its not that bad. But, if you think you are going to come out of school and make big bucks, think again.

I talked to one guy who was near tears closing in on 3k a week and still only taking $290 home a week. I only lasted a week into this past jan.. ten drivers in somerset spent new years on the road $150 pay for the whole week! the final blow was my dm, vj running her lip.

that doesnt make sense near 3k a week and still only 290takehome?? owner operator? i wouldnt recommend ANYONE go o/o w/ this company, but as a company driver there are plenty of people doing "well" here.

I was going to talk to Steve Cash about the verbal abuse from VJ in somerset. It took me about two seconds to figure out it was done with managements consent. A recruiter called wanting to know if I was interested in coming back?! hell no! If you are doing well there I am glad for you. Anyone who holds two orientations a week needs to look and see what else in going on, P.
