" I said he was a great driver but that for being a trainer you need a certain vocation... and that not everyone has the natural abilities for that... and that I did learn a lot from him" .......I guess that my old mans favorite saying " no man is completely useless...he can always serve as a horrible example " would seem appropriate for him.

Wow.... I just don't understand the bickering, lack of professionalism and general whining that goes on between Trainers and Trainees. I guess not being from this industry originally I don't have the same experiences to reference it to. For me, there was a great deal of input from other experienced drivers that you should have got out from that situation and you did. Hopefully it's all a good lesson learned.
I must admit, even though I'm new to trucking, I'm not new to hearing BS. Reading through this entire post, my opinion would swing, first from the trainee to the trainer. Now I don't mean I ever had anything positive towards the trainer. I do think there were some SERIOUS issues with the trainer and in the end it's great that he was swapped out. I just think it's quite funny how when you get the story from both sides, you find that it takes two to tango. The story becomes clearer and you're eyes are opened. I have no idea how old Mr. TooGroovy is, but I get the impression he is quite young and inexperienced in life. That's just the impression I get.
For me, it brings back memories of basic training in the military. I was young and naive, didn't have a friggin' clue what I was doing! I would get yelled at and torn down at times. At the time, I thought it was the end of the world! But I look back now actually with laughter at some of the stupid things I did!
Again, not making ANY excuses for such a poor trainer, but sometimes your own reflection scares you. I'm glad he got out of a bad situation. Hopefully there was some great growing experiences in all that!

Down boy! Situation is resolved already. My trainer with Prime, Ed, is cool as hell. We get along great, and I have no doubt we'll be friends after I leave the truck.

Granted, I am being treated more like a co-driver than a student

due to my past experience, but not all trainers are this cool, or THAT bad.

My trainer with Werner back in '11 was a bipolar psychopath.

Its all good... my current trainer is a pig, but when it comes to teaching and being safe I could not be in better company... so I am staying in this dumping ground he calls a truck and watch where I step so I don't burst one of his urine bottle collection... such is life...
