In late December when I found myself in central Texas, I called on a posted load in the DFW area. The rate and structure of the load was not to my liking, so I declined it, but accepted the broker's offer to be added to their email list as they regularly need to cover similar loads.

I get emails from this broker every day, and haven't really been watching the rate trend. These loads are multi-stop (10-35 stops) to retail locations, driver tailgate unload, scheduled over several days with no weekend delivery available. So one must hold the load over the weekend if there are Monday appointments. Back in December, the best rate they were offering was around $1.65/mile, all inclusive with no additional consideration for driver tailgate assistance, tolls or weekend waiting. Today I ran the numbers on a load in one of the emails that I received (the rate was jacked once, which piqued my curiosity). Now it seems the rate is $2.57 / mile for a similar route with less stops but still a weekend hold over. To me, while still not an attractive rate all things considered, this still looks positive.

I'll agree that freight is picking up but I've yet to see the rate increases. Hope we dont get a freight increase with no rate increase this year. I have been seeing a lot of government freight lately though going out to commiefornia. Good ole obama cant afford to have me go there either seems like those rates are just as bad.

Don't you remember? We're all supposed to "get ready to fly".

I'll believe it when I see it.

Hmm.. is that a euphemism for 'entertaining'?

psh, you're captive anyway, my observations wouldn't be of much use to you. :)

I run a box also and that rate is way low, all my loads are pickup and drop live and way over that mileage pay, also I would need at least 75.00 per tailgate drop.
