BoyWander, if you're serious try calling Gary over at Badger States/Western Trucking. They might can help get you into a Ryder truck lease I think, they used to offer that at one time...... been a few years since I spoke with em.
BoyWander Thanks this. -
Sure does make it tough to wait it out when the rates are flat and nobody's negotiating in a way that could be considered favorable....
The truck stop's gonna turn into a great big pressure cooker.....
"Man, I been here since day before yesterday, and there ain't nothing paying....." -
Live in a truck and drive day after day so everybody else gets a paycheck.

Is there a problem with my numbers?
You think $700/week for truck expenses is a lot?
Or did you misread what I said?
A cheap truck will cost $200/week.
Maint/Repair I would put away $350/week.
Insurance $50/week
Startup funds (Down payment, plates, sales tax on truck, HUT) $200/week
So there's $800/week right there. Trailer, another $100.
So $1,000/week all in to operate for a cheap truck not including fuel. And you think that's a lot?
I hate the cynicism in this forum, all you old timers trying to tell people what they ought and ought not to do, when I didn't ask for that, and then y'all get prissy about it and say "Oh you're gonna fail, you'll have to run 4k miles to make it, you're workin for everyone else but you".
If you're gonna say crap like this, then don't bother replying to my forum posts. I'm sick and tired of it.
I asked one simple question, and I get 5 different people telling me what I should do, WHEN ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS EXPLORE ANOTHER OPTION.
I worked for a carrier who leased trucks from Ryder.
I saw a copy of the lease agreement in one of the trucks I drove.
$730/week and I think 3cpm. Full service, all maintenance and repair included.
Not sure about insurance. Probably not included. But the truck was in great condition.
I also saw the lease agreement for a truck the non-profit youth organization I volunteered for a couple of summers ago, was only $480/week plus 8cpm. Full service. Insurance not included. But the truck was old, 800k miles.
So I know these deals are out there, I just don't know who would rent/lease to a single operator. -
I'll share this again with you.
These are REAL numbers. Straight out of Quicken Home&Business for me.
You tell me if your $700 is too low. And my payment is only $1330 per month for truck AND trailer.

You can try American Truck Showroom in MS. That is a rental program and $5-6k gets you out the door. They do your plates and insurance. You can run for whoever you want.
With that being said, almost everyone here will tell you DO NOT go to American Truck...I am just giving you an option just like you asked for.

Screw it, let him learn the hard way.
As to your question, rentruan used to lease to o/o. They required 5k cash down to cover and theft or damages. Refundable after truck returned in original condition
Freightliner also had a program to lease. Start making calls.
Oh wait, we cant tell u what to do.
Good luck -
MNdriver - that first one shows me a cost of $1,400/week.
