When I do a "34" I try to find the one I mentioned..Usually I can not far away. Drop the trailer and off I go..If not-have assorted 100lbs of free weights in cab-with tricep bar and short bar-and get creative..High reps super slow reps, anything to get the "burn". Still-nothing like a gym-for scenery if nothing else.![]()

I'm not a driver yet. I have time to go the gym almost every night. I go to a local gym called "elite sports and fitness Acadamy" it's owned by a local guy who is a retired MLB baseball player from here.

TA/Petros have been putting some gym equipment in some of their locations - I have yet to see anyone using them. My carrier has started a serious "wellness" plan, being administered by a fella who has been one of our drivers, and is an active triathelete. It's mostly motivation, getting out of the truck and getting a little vigorous exercise, and doing a better job of watching what you stuff down your gullet. That being said, their goal is for you to burn 500 more calories per day than you consume - loose a pound a week. So far I'm on target with this, although it's been a couple of weeks since I found a scale that I would consider reliable. Down 8 pounds (maybe more) so far.

When I was working out during my 1st tour in Iraq,,, I only needed 6hrs sleep, no more. Exercise makes your body better and when you sleep, you sleep better, thus no need for more sleep.

They never get used.
Recent polls show that most truck drivers prefer more buffets and smoking lounges. -
Lets face it, most truck drivers are LAZY. They make the excuse "I don't have time" well this true in some ways. When you get done driving for the day, eat (don't over do it), exercise, shower. These truck stops are fairly big. Walk to the entrance and back to your truck 2 times at a fast pace to get your heart rate up. You don have to be at a gym to lose weight.
SheepDog Thanks this. -
Absolutely correct wannabe driver...lol It is a tough "CHOICE" to get fit/stay fit, everyone knows we need to get into shape, or stay healthy but, we all come up with excuses. Some people, not just drivers, are perfectly happy with not worrying about their weight, losing weight or staying in shape. That's their "Choice" and although some may think that's a bad choice, it is still their choice.

Very soon it could be the difference between having a medical card or not...SheepDog Thanks this.

Just came off my time with trainer and was surprised to have lost five pounds. My planned exercise routine didnt happen but looking forward to making it happen when I am on my own.
The first time I told trainer I was going to workout he said great but don't sweat. Another time I said I was going to check out the neighborhood(going on a walk). He said why? Just pull it up on your phone and look at it. Several times I parked only to have him jump in the drjvers seat and move the truck closer to the building (buffet). Gonna fight to never get into that mindset.
