Stinkin Freightliner is still working on my truck! Dropped it off late friday for a pm and some oil leaks. First it was Monday, then they said late Tuesday. So I changed my NAT to this morning. Called when I got up and they say 1 this afternoon. Call back at 1130 and ask if 1 is still good and his answer is "well, maybe." Gonna miss the load I had for this afternoon, dbl isnt thrilled and neither am I. Nothing either of us can do about it though. Sure am glad I took it in on my home time and Im not sitting in some hotel somewhere.
    OK, rant over

    What a day.

Me: Hey DBL, this pre-assignment you sent me is gonna be close, not sure I can make delivery by 0415....can you find out if they have onsite parking?

DBL: I will let you know.

Me: Hey, this was supposed to be pre-loaded, I have been here over 2 hours, no way I will make that 0415 appointment, can you get it changed or find a relay driver?

DBL: Let me see what we can do, I will let you know. Just in case, what time can you make it by?

Me: Oh, should be there by 0700.

    4 hours later.......

Me: Hey DBL, did you get any info on this load yet?

DBL: We can't get a hold of the receiver.....will let you know later.

    3 hours later.....

DBL: Just plan on delivering at 0700, if they won't take the load, we will have you drop it in Seville and continue with your next load.

Seriously, how hard would it have been to have a driver grab it from me, I am parked 40 miles from the receiver???? Seville is SOOOOOO out of my way of my next load!!!!!

I may have spoke highly of my truck too soon. Now that the weather is getting warmer here in california my truck is getting hot on the hills. Had to stop twice today to let her cool down. i only had about 20K lbs on her. Poor girl.

If you're in a Century and you get the coolant high temp warning turn on the heater. I can't explain what it does but I know from experience that this will help and generally get the temp down. I've had to do that twice in AZ climbing the two big hills on the 17 NB with 42,000 in the can and the outside temp was 108.

Just simply turn off all A/C.

That won't do the job all the time. I always turned off the ac when pulling long hills in hot weather. I got the high coolant temp warning twice with the ac off. Turning the heater on will lower the coolant temp. It was explained to me once but I just can't remember the explination. I'll get the explination again and post it.

I shouldn't have to turn on my heater or turn off my A/C in the summertime to keep the truck cool. If that's the solution the truck will stay parked. It's not "safe" for me to be running the heater in the summer. And we all know Schneider is all about safety!

Using the heater bleeds off excess heat because the heater core is essentially a small radiator. It runs the same coolant as the engine so when you turn on the heater it is taking the heat from the coolant in the engine, and pulling some out to push into your cab instead.
