Ok there boys and girls. I'm gonna get a Dynasys APU . As you know , they offer a lease . The offer they made me , being a member of OOIDA , ( they say almost everyone who's a member is approved ) , was no money down , 24 or 36 month lease , with a $1.00 buyout at the end . I chose 24 months.
Then I ran the numbers .
As you know , on a lease , they cannot ( I think ) charge interest . So, they add in fees .
The "FEEs" add up to an interest rate of 13%. I have Good Credit . Pity those who don't .
What you think , good deal , or not ?
I run the South a Lot. No time to search for other options . It's already hot where I'm at .

Go to Boomers in OK City got Dynasis on sale for 7900.00 installed, does the lease thing too. They are their #1 install shop. They also have a couple of other finance options and a couple other choices in APU's.
-
Thanks . Boomer is not an option , less I want to B/T 500 miles each way .
-
What are they telling you for a price? And how much is the lease payments at 24 and 36 months? On a lease to own there technically is an interest rate, which can be deducted on your taxes, as well as the ability to depreciate the equipment.
-
Right . 412 an change , at 24 , me pay the sales tax , , bout 325 at 36 . I know it's all Deductable.
its the 13% real interest I don't like , even if its TD.
shop price is 8060 , installed. -
If its a must. I'd take my butt to the bank and get a signature loan or small business loan for less interest and better payment
-
Thanks . Been doing business ( checking , savings ) with the same small town bank for some years . I've talked to them before . Same old story . I'm within 5 months of getting my truck paid off , but they don't have a clue what it's worth , or what they could have as collateral.
Frankly , I don't have days to sit around at home . I go home , I get bombarded by dispatch, with Help calls . Within 48 hours . I have another business , its Bleeding red ink. I have to stay out , to keep it afloat.
I have taken Dynasys' deal. It sucks , but I can pay it off anytime . I intend to. I need the APU , cause , for instance , I'll be sitting this weekend in Houston , but will be running my butt off , all next week. I'll be in the South all next week. Warm , and I need to keep my batteries charged . Hotel loads , don't ya know. Cheaper to run that APU , than the big engine . And , I'm too dam cheap to buy a motel for the weekend. -
Yup, makes since all the way around. Who's installin yours? Where? Have you calculated to see fuel savings is gonna negate APU payment, and save $?
-
Getting it installed here in New Brunsfuls , Tx. At a place called Big Rig Acessories , I think . I'm already unhappy with the install. Bout halfway thru , an , like most shops , they do what's easiest , not what you want. Keepin on top of two installers , workin both sides , while dealin with other issues , I missed what one was doin , and got a 3 inch hole , and shavings , in the cab where I didn't want them.
They seem to be good people ,though , and I'll get it straightened out tomorrow , but that 3 inch hole will still be there.
As for fuel savings , I had an APU already , and I'm still dealing with a boost problem , that I've spent 6 months , and a whole lotta $$$$ , trying to solve , so I won't have any numbers .
The APU I had , was a BOAT ANCHOR called a Pony Pack, made by Rex Greer , the " inventor of the APU " . What I spent on it,these last 27 months , I coulda bought a TriPac , installed , taken the wife on a two week vacation to Hawaii , and had money left over.
Here's what I know . An APU saves me money . Even Greers Junk saved me some , before the endless repairs , and time spent on it.
My engine has 854,000 miles on it . I want it to go over a million. Anything that prolongs its life , is worth tryin.
I've heard 95% good about the Dynsys . Only bad I ever heard , was from a husband- wife team , company drivers , who wouldn't know their ##### from a hole in the ground.
The TriPac wouldn't suit me . I run a coffee pot , microwave , TV , sattilite dish , VCR , surround system , all the comforts .
When I'm loaded , I run 79,000 plus. A light load is 75,000. My D/H varies from almost none , to over 1,000 miles . I've started running the numbers by the year , not the trip. Yearly , they've been coming up , but a lot slower than I would like . Course , I'm running more loaded miles this year , so far , than last.
I don't like bookkeeping. If I did , I'd be a CPA . Id rather wrench on a truck , than run its numbers. Still, it needs to be done. I'm lucky , the rates I get are above average , it keeps my business afloat. -
Paw Paw, how's the APU workin for ya?
