Hi Connor,
Congrats on not committing anymore criminal acts. I am glad that you got yourself together. May I say this, I come from a back ground of abuse by my step-father, and ex-husband. But I will never ever put myself in that position again. With that said, a lot of companies look at criminal backgrounds whether it was a petty crime or serious crime, it really does not matter how long it has been. I am a truck driver and yes a woman, my husband and I have been driving together for over three years. Now, I did have a misdemeanor on my record way back in 2005 for disorder conduct. When I started to apply for different companies I did explain to them that I was defending my self against my ex-husband. Anyway, the companies that you do apply with just be honest with them. Miracles do happen, stick with it, and I wish you the best of luck.
Would you hire me?

Thank you all again for the thoughts and comments. I appreciate all of them. I am unsure however why the talk of abuse throughout the thread. If it is referring to the assault and battery, that was fighting. He has the same charges from that time on his record as well from us fighting. I've never been abused, and I don't think he has either lol.
mje Thanks this. -
Not to bash you but since the title is asking me if I would hire you the answer is no. With the economy the way it is there are 1000's of people applying for driving jobs with clean records. Even though all your past was over 10 years ago theres no chance in hell I would give you ashot unless my truck said carolina cargo or crst on the door. And it doesnt

Connor did NOT physically or sexually assault or abuse any women or children.
It was his brother that he had the fights with.
His brother is NOT a woman or child.
Also, Connor was convicted of MISDEMEANORS, NOT FELONIES.kerosene jockey, aiwiron, superpet39 and 1 other person Thank this. -
From personal experience, I'll tell you that it was hard to get the first job with one misdemeanor and basically no work record for the previous four years before I started. I found two out of about 40 companies that would even consider me. One turned me down eventually and the other one hired me. After having almost two years experience, it wasn't a problem finding a great job, but the first one was very hard.

Hi Connor, that thread wasn't towards your actions. I was just explaining the misdemeanor that I have gotten 2005. Some employers beleived that since I got a disorder conduct that I had aggressive behavior. Example, when I applied at a security company I had to explain fully what took place that day. I was honest with them and they hired me. If you read the entire thread it is about me and not you. So I do apologize if you thought that it was about you. I was just trying to explain my situation. I do wish you the best in your endeavors.

I wasn't speaking specifically of your post. Just the abuse mentioned throughout the thread in general. It's interesting where peoples minds goes when they see a criminal charge. This thread has been very enlightening in many ways over it's course thus far.

There are people with convictions worse than yours who've found employment in this industry. Will the numbers hold you back? That's why you need to check with companies before you get tied up in a truck driving school.
And remember, value above all the opinions of the 0 - 1 year drivers. They have such a wealth of expertise to share.

Lovingmom, husband/wife teams are the "cream of the crop" and some things may have been overlooked or forgiven because you are a husband/wife team. Like you said too though, it depends on the crime/misdemeanor that was committed and whether or not you were charged or what the verdict eventually was.
Sometimes though it can work out for the best that you don't have a perfect record. Not having a perfect record means that a lot of mega-carriers won't take you so you are forced to look into the smaller companies. The smaller companies are a little more forgiving and the chances of success are substantially higher. -
if you have a stable, decent job where your home every day with your family,
using your own toilet....
showering without flip-flops.....
home cooked meals....
essentially not turning your significant other into a single parent during your absence...
why mess with it?WitchingHour Thanks this.
