I was driving through a town with multiple photo-enforced stop lights. So I was being ultra attentive and also had a heavy load so needed time to stop as soon as a light turned yellow. I stopped at a light and a passenger vehicle rear ended me.

My question is: how will this be spun as my fault (because I know it will be). Also, how do they report that on your CSA score and that other service that replaced DAC?

i'm curious if rear end collisions like that have increased in areas with photo-enforced lights.

What makes you think it will be spun around to put you at fault? We all know that you are supposed to approach an intersection with the anticipation that the light will change , thus always cover your brake just in case....

The other driver admitted he was at fault and didn't even have an insurance card. I'm not afraid of lawyers, just my employer. They always say "there is no such thing as an 'accident'", so I'm sure I will receive penalty points and have to attend a defensive driving class. I'm just trying to familiarize myself with their possible reasoning so I'm not as angry and furious when I actually hear it.

No, the police didn't even file a report (they said because no injuries). The DOT bumper wasn't even damaged, but the car's hood was. I had been planning on changing trucking companies soon, and just wanted to plan for the worst. I forget what that new system is that replaced DAC (PERS or something) but I'm pretty sure it will probably show up there. That will cancel any chance I have to switch to a better company.

Hey Ralph, how fast were you going when you backed into him?:biggrin_25523:

Really, that would be the only way this could be construed to be your fault by anyone. I think what your company is saying is there is no such thing as an accident if your vehicle strikes something else. At least I HOPE that is where they are coming from!

    Ralph4159 and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this.

Well I think physics are on your side. A car can stop faster than a semi so if he was pay attention and maintaining a safe following distance there would be no collision. As long as the car driver doesn't claim your brake lights werent working.
