If you don't follow very specific procedures when returning a truck some carriers will report abandonment on your DAC . That could end your driving career .

The carriers that hire newbies have a turnover rate of over 100% so they always need drivers .
But ask yourself why does a carrier with 5,000 drivers have to replace 5,000 drivers a year ? How much security does a job there offer ?quatto Thanks this. -
Thanks Chinatown !

I feel like a dummy but....What's a DAC ?

Good question. So how does a newbie decide? What would you do if you were straight out of school?

Something else about recruiters being paid for their performance . It isn't unheard of for them to bring more applicants to orientation than the carrier needs knowing that a certain percentage will be rejected . If the usual percentage of rejects isn't in a particular group some people that should have been accepted will be sent home .quatto Thanks this.

Great tactic! I'll remember that. Thanks again!

It is a private company that many trucking outfits use for background checks on drivers. SEE:http://www.hireright.com/Trucking-Background-Checks.aspx?apsi=2
Some of these companies will put all sorts of outrageous crap on there about you, if you piss off the wrong person. You can fight it, but it is time consuming.quatto Thanks this. -
Thanks Big Don ! mmm....Where is "Utah's Dixie" ??

BEFORE I went to school I would check for opportunities with smaller carriers with lower turnover . Look into expedite . FedEx Custom Critical will put you in a straight truck right out of a preapproved school . Panther just requires a Class B CDL .
Both carriers will put you right to work without a trainer but teaming with an experienced driver to start is recommended .quatto Thanks this.
