Do your homework here if you can or ask drivers that are still working for them companies. Them fools are CL are nothing but vendictive. They ain't no telling why they quit or got fired and they'll lie or tell a one sided story. I flag them type that think the ads are a forum. They have CL forums for that stuff. That tells me that if they can't even follow CL rules they probably couldn't follow trucking rules. The same on this or any forum you can pretty much tell the validity of a post.

Between trucking and mass communications including CL has really opened my eyes what is in this world. It's like one big CB radio and there are more idiots out there than I previously thought. :)
But all the good still wins!

i was hopin it was that, i picked up a job on the edge of the field and am glad, even though it wont pay as much it will be work that will allow me to view bakken and get paid. if this thing lasts as long as they say i will have plenty of time to jump in when i know the good companies and have spent a winter or two so i can see if i i have tthe big boy pants on and can handle it.

You have to remember that alot (not all) of the people that head up there are guys that can't keep a job elsewhere. There is a reason they cannot keep jobs elsewhere.

Mj1657 is right a lot of idiots running up there that's why there is a lot of accidents. Keep good attitude and be extra aware that most not all of them would push you in ditch or hit u and not think twice about it. Driving down mid road passing upgrades. Or corners. Drive defensive all time and u shouldn't have problem. Like driving NYC. But most are driving trucks instead of cabs. Wish ya luck and stay calm.

What drove the mass move up North was and is greed. Plain and simple. Doesn't matter what the skill levels may or may not be with the drivers up there. Stand in someone's way of making a buck in these days and see what happens.

Please dont make this about politics. The last people with intelligent opinions about politics are truck drivers. But funny thing is, Truckers are the first to know all...LOL....
I am currently in ND and working hauling crude. I can tell you now from an unbiased standing point. This place is NOT paved with gold. ALOT of the the companies and O/O here do in fact rip their drivers off and skip town or they force drivers run illegal. Its the nature of the oil biz. Do your homework. I cant stress that enough! So far alot of the companies that are being flagged as bad companies have not been too far off. There are alot of fly by night companies low balling bids to haul crude for the big oil companies. Once they get the bids, they run as much or how ever they can legal or not to fulfill the contract. Drivers get hourly ( which is being phased out as I can see) or they get a percentage of what the truck makes. The norm is about 25% of the load you get. It all depends on how much per barrel your company gets the oil as to what you will earn. YOU WILL NOT GET RICH WORKING OUT HERE!!! IF you think you will come here and make 150K, do yourself a favor and stay put. Anyone that says they make that as a driver is full of ####. Even if a contractor can make 150K, hes got to pay taxes, fuel, truck trailer payments and day to day expenses. This place isn't cheap! It all falls on him. As a company driver, realistically you can earn 45K to 75K pretty easily. But there a few drivers with excellent records and backgrounds with ND crude oil hauling experience who earn higher wages. Like in the 80K to 100K area. If you are a 1099 contractor which is being phased out too, you pay your own taxes. There are contractors on CL now advertising 8000 to 11K per month. Thats BS, I actually worked for that guy before i finally found my good company and that 8 to 11K is his most senior driver who gets loads before anyone else. Nepotism at its finest! The rest of his drivers earn 5600 to 7000 per month. Another post claims 100K plus per year. LoL. You really have to just do your homework. Network and talk to drivers out here. But be cautious of the stories. Alot of truck drivers will not be truthful and put themselves over as if they got a great gig. There are a few good companies out here still. I strongly suggest going with a big company vs a contractor. At least you will get paid on time, have housing, and run legal. Ive been on both sides of the gambit and companies are definitely the way to go. MBI, Enterprise, Deer Valley, Black Hills. Those companies always seem to have work, housing, benefits, and time off to go home. While alot of others just sit,(Southern energy, QC, PF, Key Energy, Fox Run). Good Luck to you. If you need any help or have questions. PM me any time. God Bless Brothers...
P.S. ND isn't money mecca but you will make alot more here than in Ok Tx Co or NM. On the avg a Drivers pay in ND is from 325 to 450 per day. If its a good company and he can run consistently which in ND oil field is not going to happen. The other states? 150 to 225. per day and its not consistent there either. One week there's more work than you can handle and the next week you sit a few days waiting for work. Remember where you are. ND is not a great place to live, which is why they pay so much more. This place is a #### hole. Town, People, Weather, Roads, housing and quality of life are all a problem here. Come make your money and go back to civilization. Save Save Save and get out! :)
