Hey Yall, I'm at the TA in Jacksonville, Fl.(I-10 & 301) Finally....a 34hr reset....We have not set still for the last 3 wks or so...just a small look at my past 7 days....3/17 thru3/24 Shreveport, LA to Witchita, KS...Jenks, OK toMarinette, WI...Menasha, WI to Mansfield, MA...Waupaca, WI to Russellville, KY....Campbellsville, KY to Chelmsford, MA...North Haven, CT to Willowbrook, IL...Des Plaines, IL to West Memphis, AR...Campbellsville, KY to Jacksonville, Fl. and thats about it for the past week. I've been reading at everyones posts for about an hour or so looks like there are alot of new faces just getting started, and some rookies just starting to figure-out that this job is not as sexxy....as it looks. un-like the "LOT-LIZZARD" that just pecked on the door of the truck...SAD thing to be...GLAD I'm married. I guess she'll get the money she's looking for here somewhere today..which is sad also.

As opposed to folding the whole thing in half, then half again, and so forth, which means that it needs to be completely unfolded before it can go on the load. True quarters is folding both sides to the center line, then to the center again, etc. so it can be placed on top of the load while rolled up and then unfolded down each side, with gravity just letting it fall on each side. I've gotten a couple of the former and it makes a tough job REALLY tough.

Hey Guys. Especially Blue, OSU, and Techno. My classmates from the Jan. 28th class at RDTC. Sorry I haven't posted any about my trials and tribulations. It's been quite an adventure. On day two with my trainer my brother called and said, Mom died. She'd been sick so it wasn't a complete surprise. We were in Gary with a load going to Louisville. (three hour drive home to Murfreesboro Tn.) Dispatch offered to get me to the airport and I told them I'd like to rent a car in Louisville and drive home. I really couldn't afford the flight. After delivering in Louisville no rental car agency would rent me a car with a debit card. They said if you're from out of state you must have a major credit card. (MAJOR LESSON LEARNED HERE ) Marge, at Dispatch came to my rescue and found a Flatbed Driver Trainer, with a student, delivering ten minutes from my house. UNBELIEVABLE! We met them at a truck stop and they took me home. After a week home, dealing with family and a private service for Mom, I went back out with my trainer. We drove 5000 miles in ten days. On day seven I was driving through a Weigh Station in North Carolina and was waved over for a Level 2, DOT Inspection. My trainer was excited when there were no violations and mentioned the bonus he would receive. Wait a minute ..... The State Trooper took my driver's license and if there were violations they would appear on my CSA score ????? Oh yeah! I had to take a reset with my trainer! After ten days out I tested out in Ellenwood a week ago on Friday and was given keys to a 2013 Cascadia. I know ................ it still has the new smell. I'm blessed! I was given a load to Wakesha Wi. and told to take another reset at home because I was driving past my exit for the trip. This reset was for me to go off paper logs and on to my Truck PC. I trained on a Qualcom so another learning curve............ It was my own fault I asked to drive at night thinking the traffic would be less and for such a NEWBIE! it might be a little easier. I found out the hard way that there is no place to stop if you get sleepy. The rest areas are slammed and truck stops, forget about it. My second load, EVER, took me on a two stopper, from Janesville WI, to Ann Arbor, and Howell Mi. Lake effect snow around Kalamazoo had I-94 down to one lane @ 30 to 40 mph. Somehow I made my stops on time and received a 550 miler from Jackson Mi. to Glasgow Ky. and Bowling Green. In Glasgow I had to back across a US Highway down into a gravel pit they called a loading dock. Had to move my tandems all the way forward so the tailgate would be level to the dock. Made it with one pull up and a very high pucker factor. Now remember 550 miles in 11 hours .................. my third load, EVER, the Con decided they had to inventory each item as it was taken off the truck. I'm down to one hour on my 14, one hour drive time, and a 45 minute drive to my second stop. I called in and was told I'll check into it and call you back. No call, and my 14 ran out as I was resetting my tandems. I ended up driving 4.2 miles Out of Hours to the local Walmart. I called ahead and asked for permission to park there. So, I didn't make my second stop and they are closed until Monday @ 7am. I am currently at a truck stop 13 miles away from Con, will deliver tomorrow and go home for much needed hometime.
If anyone can give me any advice on how to handle this kind of situation and not drive Out Of Hours I'd love to hear it. And .... I have a service failure for not making it to my second Con. Should I have said I cannot make this load safely in the allotted time? Sorry for the long post.

The OSU, technoroom and Bayle Thank this.

Stopped early yesterday in Bloomington IL, for fuel stop and decided to shut down to start early to get out of there and farther north before snow. Was almost a bad decision. Exit 8 I-39, had to do an evasive maneuver, because some drunk,(I don't know what else it could be at 01:30 on Saturday night) was going south in northbound lanes. Scared the #### out of me for sure.

you run out you run out its the way it is. They question you why you explain to them why, same with service failure, if its your fault then you just note the bullet and accept it. In PA one time I went to 2 rest areas and 4 truck stops to find parking. The final place I made myself a spot and I was already a hour over. In Indy I called ahead and said hey I will run out of hours and I can't park there overnight at con trying for a early morning delivery the next day. Dispatch said go in, I ran out and drove to parking 20 miles away. Oh well just happens sometime out of your control

    Irishman56 and Bayle Thank this.
