Well I dont understand why 46 cpm is 'not doing anyone any good' at my current rates? That is a total of about $5500 a month in case of emergency. Is this bad? I didnt think so...

So you're saying that the $1.34/mile you have for total operating costs also includes your driver's pay of $.46/mile as well as all the contributions you as an employer have to make to the various government agencies for employees? IE: Workman's comp, contributions towards EI, CPP not to mention insurance companies for employee medical/dental plans etc.....

Either I'm missing something, something isn't being paid out by you or you've got one hell of a deal on the price of fuel...

I am basing that on paying myself 50 cpm if I was driving and no, that does not cover my own WCB, CPP or EI. I would pay myself 40 cpm and include WCB and CPP to get a rough figure of 50 cpm. My trucks do a yearly average of 7.5 mpg US and so that is the big savings for me. Alot of folks dont think that is possible, but alot of em also dont know how to drive a properly specced truck properly for a certain application. I know what my bottom line is, and at 46 cpm total profit I think I am doing pretty good being leased to a carrier. I have learned the tricks of the trade early on how to be profitable in this business...otherwise I would be crying foul like alotta folks do...

It looks like we have gotten off topic here from what my OP was inquiring about...

I have no idea why you're asking about rates on this forum, you seem to know it all as it is so just go with what you know.

Well I think you got yer shorts in a knot just cause you cant beleive I happen to have a low operating cost. Not everybody hauls multi axle equipment and so not everybody has the same operating expense. Why does it seem that the guys who have to spend big seem to come down on the guys who cacn run a completely different operation with alot less cost...? I dont know everything and will never claim to. When someone knows everything its time to change professions in my opinion. All I was askin for is if someone could give me some insight to ballaprk rates on general freigh...not get pissy cause I know how to run my business profitably...

Sorry, maybe I interpreted that wrong...I have been somewhat edgy lately. I know what I can operate for so I know what kinda profit margin I will have on a specific rate, but I am sorta in the dark as to what the approximate rates are. I know that if my carrier pays me $1.80 then they are most likely getting $2.50 or so... but it could be $3 or more...not really sure as every lane is different and so is every load.

I get where you are coming from. I would trade the rates for Ontario to cgy/edm/van. I usually do full load reefer work, lots of frozen, tandem axle only. Now, what can you bring to the table?
