I used denver volvo as im based out of denver and it was 2900 for 1 egr valve and a thermostat. They are rude and I will drive to wichita robertsons volvo mack before i go 15 miles to volvo denver agin. They lie and dont care and are rude will not see any of my trucks again. And should have kept my cat 1 million miles and still going strong no problems.

 

I'm not sure if you guys are talking about same Volvo in Denver, 2 years ago i stoped at the one located around the jonction I-70/ I-270, with a rad leak. I always check price in 3-4 locations if is not an emergency job; they asked 1600$ for radiator , part only without labour cost, i keept going east on I-70 refilling my coolant and had the job done at Volvo in Terre Haute ,Indiana , the rad was 500$ less, around 1100$.

 

The detroit shop I go to I stand there the whole time my truck is being worked on. They charge me 22 bucks less per hour than normal rate. Its no different with shops as with brokers. Build relationships and you will make more and save more.

mobile fleet service in yakima, wa (best shop IMHO have used them for years, quick in n out time and repaired rite at a very good price. I think $103per hour)

TEC volvo in Coburg, OR (only TEC dealer i will use) 96 per hour if i remember rite

central carolina trucks (i think it is advantage now) kernersville, nc (close to volvo corp. and very knowlegeable, helpful)

S&S Volvo Lima, OH (small shop sometime a day wait to get in but fair prices and good service)

Bruckners Amarillo, TX, and the LBJ location in dallas, TX off of Lancaster rd exit (by the TA and Flying J)

mountain west volvo, SLC, UT (limited experience with them but the slid me in and fixed my truck correctly the first time)

Young Volvo, Canton, OH had CAC replaced and they presented me with a couple of options from new, reman, radiator combo deal, duralite, also had some other work done and the price was resonable and service was timely.

transmission, clutch, rears(that is all they do) i use Felix Transmission in Dallas, TX Pablo 214-415-5712 small shop they rebuilt my diff and power divider $1750 new everything end to end, and had it RnR'd in about 5 hours with wait to get into shop.

I too have been taken by the a-holes in Denver and am still fighting with them over the bill. thank goodness mine was only $1256 for fixing nothing and costing me two days revenue.

I believe you said you have a D12 engine if you want to save your EGR Cooler replace the dampener once a year as they wear out and the vibration is what kills the cooler. small price versus the price of that cooler.

 

I had a very good small experience with the new Volvo shop at Lancaster, Tx. Went in with cruze control not working, high idle could be set but no cruise.. Shop manager was familiar with similar situation and just adjusted a switch on clutch. $125 repair. Don't know if they can do the big stuff, but I was impressed with this incident.

Get a freightliner Detroit serie 60/ 12.7L or the 14L and if you can get a nice pre-Emission even better.

 

Before I got wise I made the mistake of buying a Volvo and boy the op was right..... It nicle and Dime me to death.
