You definitely have to weed out the bad companies, and you may have to take it up the you-know-what for a couple years until you get experience, but there are and always be good companies to work for, you just gotta do your research.

What exactly happened? Negligence issues can be hard to get around...

I couldn't agree more.
It is incorrect to categorize the whole industry as a place that should be avoided or condemned. Many people today love a cause they can latch onto and beat it to death while 90% of them have no idea what the real cause is. They are all to quick to apportion blame to others for their own bad decisions and incompetence. It is still possible to make a very good living in this industry as a driver, you just need to know where to look. Anyone that has been following the law with paper logs will feel no pain going to Elogs, it is a complete myth put out there by ignorant drivers. The drivers who have been fudging there logs or have been running with multiple books put out this doom and gloom message when in fact we are all safer on the highway when Elogs takes these guys off it. Go work in another industry and I will gladly pick up the extra loads.Last edited: Mar 26, 2013
Tonythetruckerdude, biggare1980, Hambone68 and 3 others Thank this. -
I love trucking I have been driving for 6 years now at Pepsi beverages company home every night and making over 27 an hour and benefits with 3 weeks vacation so I would disagree that this is a bad industry to get into, u just have to find a good spot in it

You have to find the right job, sometimes it takes longer than most people expect. If you have some money saved up go do the mega carrier long haul thing for a few years then get a cushy local gig. I know guys who work for a local gig and make $20 plus an hour and are VERY happy with their job. I found my niche in the industry and went with it. People also have to find what they like.

In my prior career, that was crushed by the banks and real estate market failing, I had 12 years of school and training before I could take the state license test.
Now, with 4 weeks of school and a year of experience I am making about 3/4 of my previous 30 year career.
I am not hating this option.
Sarcasm:
Oh elogs!
Boo hoo hoo.
I can not cheat on HOS and drive whenever I want...
Poor baby! Man up!

LaBubba, FozzyNOK and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
Not at all ,I talked to the trainers and they told me that new drivers are looking the old ,paper logbook way ,when doing your job there was still some freedom on the highway
-
I'm not talking about driving illegally I'm talking about waiting in my truck 50 miles from home and family 10 hr on the site of the road before I can move again
Paper logbook in this moment would be not a problem
I make a 1000 thousand per week (seven days ) and this is the same amount as I started in 2002 ,but now 1000 is like a 300 in 2002 -
You are at North West ,can you point your start and destination for your loads please ,the roads must be not to busy ,trailer preloaded, its great that you make 3000 in 5 days I'm at North East and is hard to make 3000 miles in 7 days
I'm Elog and many times I'm loosing 3 hr to drive in the heavy traffic 60 miles and if I stop and go I punch of duty all the time to save my on duty hr
