So I start training for a truck company in michigan tomorrow for two weeks and just as a plan b because they said if I dont catch on in 2 weeks I may not have a job with them (i graduated a driving school 60 days ago) I looked in FACLCON TRASPORT.
The recruiter on the phone told me that being a new recruit in the area i would be assigned the flatbed steel division, work monday-friday for the most part and get 22% of the loads I take instead of getting paid per mile. She said for the first 90 days I would get $550 a week though instead of the 22%. Told me it was a new thing they were doing.
Is this payscale effective and is it worth while instead of going for a company that pays per mile? also how reputable is the flatbed division of Falcon and the company as a whole?? Is this opportunity worth going for given the details I provided if you were looking for a flatbed company or just experience for a new driver???

Work Mon-Fri for the most part?Ah Right.
Think I would pass on that.
In fact I think I would run away. -
Just remember that 22% of nothing...is still nothing. If they are giving you cheap loads then you will end up with nothing. Find out what an average load would be like.

there are companies that have that type of pay scale for new drivers,22% is pretty good depending on rate and how many turns you do in a day and week,I'd ask how many loads driver's are getting per week and average weekly pay,I believe m-f especially in that area,any idea where they load out of or who they deliver to ?

550 a week for your 70hrs is just over $7/hr.
They're going to put you on short runs where you're going to be chaining and tarping a lot.
Not worth the money.
Go find something else. -

As far as the flatbed div. goes all I can say I see them on the Ohio and Indiana turnpike all day pulling turnpike doubles of steel coils so has to be at least steady for them.

ill give you $600 per week for 90 days! tell them to go to h_ll. they have cut a few rates and screwed me in the past. it will be 22% of cheap. RUN RUN RUN.
They are trying to take advantage of your lack of experience and knowledge. you may have to work cheap and stay clean untill you meet the requirements of a better company(the ones who do advertise because they dont need to)
Id say you are dammed if you do and dammed if you dont. research some other companies and ask as many questions as you can BEFORE you sign anything -
