Hello everyone! i need some answers as well as good advice from my fellow cb operators and truckers. I have a company truck 2010 International Prostar with a Predator 10k antenna on the bottom mirror bracket facing forward at a 45. I'm looking to find a good ground for the antenna, but don't know where i should mount the ground strap?

Last month i was down in Texas at a small truck stop and had seen this USA truck with a 102 inch whip mounted on the mirror and a fire stick antenna facing back words pointed toward the lower step with the coax connector facing up. what is the deal with that fire stick?

Why the bottom of the mirror arm? That would put the coils way low next to the cab?

On my ProStar i grounded the antenna mount to one of the Torx bolts that hold the mirror bracket to the door.
Use flat braid ground straps or 6 gauge copper stranded wire.
I also grounded the door to the body using the bolts on the door hinge.

With your antenna mounted that low i could imaging setting SWR is about impossible.

I am running a Monkey Made MM-9 Medium that is bigger than the 10K. SWR 1 to 1.2
I did have to angle it forward about 20 degrees.

If the Firestik was pointing in the opposite direction from the 102", then it was being used as a counterpoise. Basically the second half of a dipole antenna.

it should have a factory ground strap on the factory mount on the mirror arm, it should be a flatbraid with an eyelet on 1 of the bolts. why not try it since it is already there. also why do you have it on the bottom arm, the coil on the predator needs to be above the roofline to effectively work.

I could not find a factory ground on mine and the mirror arm bolts through plastic.
I soldered up my own ground strap and went direct from the antenna mount to the big Torx bolt that screws into the door metal.

I believe the power mirror, mirror heater, ect. has its own ground wire routed inside the mirror arm.
Adding that and the ground from the hinge bolt to the body shows good continuity from the antenna bracket to the body of the cab.

they may have done away with it on the newer prostars ez, i know the 2008,9 had it but those had the black mirror pods on them with the cb mount bolted directly to the mirror arm and had a ground strap on the mount. if his doesn't then the way you did yours is the way to go.
