Ran 1200 miles to Miami from OH-IO. (Yes, they beat AZ tonight). Now south of Orlando at Haines City Pilot on 27 for 1600 mile run to WI. Nice weather and good miles for six days.

Had a driver tell me he runs 900 miles some days. He uses paper log book(s). How do these guys get away with that anymore?

Not that hard. A lot of guys will run the log on miles, not time. So most states have a 70mph limit. That's 770 in 11 hours, saying you ave 70. Not hard to mess with 130 miles to fit it in.

No getting caught, dodging scales, running really late at night when a lot of scale houses are closed.

Super easy. I know a few guys who run that way still. Not at Roehl of course.

Don't even have to dodge scales. I used to keep a very neat log book, straight clean lines, nice printed legible writing. Never had a problem. If they actually had done math, figuring what the distances were, then I would have had a problem. I didn't do it all the time, but on occasion. Couple times had a lvl 1 and they had computer program to tell them if times/distance were legal, just happens those times; I was.

I just don't know why people want to run that way.

If your pay is so low where you need to run 900 miles in a day I say it's one of three things. Maybe you work for the wrong company, maybe you should stop taking cheap freight if O/O, or maybe you are in the wrong industry. Either way, it's those guys who "fudge it" that make the rest of us look bad. Actually 130 extra miles for the day isn't fudging it, that's just out and out fraud, lying, criminal. 20-30 miles, ok you fudged, 130 miles, NOPE! Just my opinion....

There are some dummies out there, but i know some guys that run heavy miles, multiple books, that drive that way to get more $$, who also haven't had an accident in nearly 40 years of driving. There are many guys like that out there, you won't find them on the forum though, they're too busy building up cash for retirement in an industry that wants us all to be poor.

    Meltom Thanks this.
