Alright folks, you're going to CA with an 8'1" or 8'2" spread. How much weight can you have back there? Bonus points for citing law.

Did I get the bonus points? lol according to what I see here. You get 34000 on your trailer axles.plant Thanks this. -
Thanks, trying to navigate the CA DOT website on my phone was a pain. I guess I got extremely lucky then. I took a load to CA on this trailer with over 37000lbs on the spread... and passed a level 1 inspection at the Castaic scale. Then when I got back to AZ, the shipper refused to let me go with 35000lbs on there, telling me that my spread is under 8'6" so I can only have 34000. I never knew that. Thanks for the help!

i beleive the atlas says 38,ooo on 8 ft. 39,000 on 9 ft, 40,000 on 10 ft. less then 8 ft. would be 34,000.
i don't have my atlas handy but i'm pretty sure it's something to those numbers. -
Safe is 19,600 per axel. 34 on the 5th wheel 12,500 on steering. You better weigh everything you haul. Shippers lie.
