When will they get the HOS rules right? I've been trucking for 13 years and I can tell you now that the current HOS doesnt have a one size fits all clause. How about this? Give 16 hour total on duty clock with a max of 12 hours driving with proof of breaks during the driving hours if consecutive. Have 8 hrs sleeper or off duty like it was previously.

They are trying to fix something that was not broken.

We also have a couple new HOS rules that begin in June. 34-Hr Restarts must include two periods between 1:00 - 5:00 am and must be taken at the home terminal. In other words, you must be at home for 2 days. No more 34-hr restarts in a truck stop while under loads. You also wont be able to drive for more than 8 hours without a 30 minute break.
-
They should mandate 11 hour breaks and eliminate the 70 hour rule.
UnnamedSickness and Snowshoes Thank this. -
I could not agree more!

You care to cite and link that, about the home terminal? As close as I have studied the actual rules, in the FMCSA website, I have yet to see that. Please enlighten us, with facts.

I had heard "home terminal" someplace before as well, but it was a "This driver told me he had heard from another driver whose mom's beautician's cousin that works for a place that had a truck driver stop there once said." type of thing
scottied67 and Freightlinerbob Thank this.
