What was the quickest that you've ever quit a trucking job? I just got into something a week ago and personally I can already see it's probably not going to be for me. #### Recruiters are something else, but it's really nobodies fault but mines.

Well I was officially with knight for 1 month and 7 days but I called off 2 to 3 times a week and had an interview every week. I also got my job the second week of being there and they told me I started on the first of the months so I would say 2 weeks

I could write a book on what I have been through while "resigning" jobs. I have even gone and taken the drug screen and never went back. Worked for a milk hauler 3 1/2 hours once and told them bye, bye. When I "retired" from a major LTL carrier, when walking off the yard, I made myself a promise, let an employer "jerk my chain" and I will "take a hike". Someone told me, long ago, that your first impression is 90% right, "think long, think wrong".

Got job during interview, walked out to check out equipment, walked back in and quit. They didnt have a single truck capable of passing an inspection. Wasnt worth the risk.

I understand you arent trying to go into details, but can you give a little more info on what happened to you, also what is it about the industry you dont like? or is it just this particular job you dont like......

As far as the question, i'd have to say 1 hour although im not sure this would qualify: ..... but the day after i got my CDL (keep in mind i still had my paper license lol), i went and aplied in person to UPS Freight, since they were looking for drivers, they brought me in, sat me down, started the paper work, then while watching a safety video, guy ask me to make a copy of my license (LOL), i start to laugh as i give him my "license" ....the following exchange happens:

Him- whooooooa wait a minute, i thought you said you been with your company for 10 years
    Me- I have
Him- But it said you just got your license yesterday
    Me- I know
Him- (him laughing) Ummmm im sorry guy, i cant hire you without atleast 1 years exp.
Me- Ok no problem, kinda sad though- since I KNOW i can drive CIRCLES around some of your drivers, have a great day
    Him- What did you say?
Me- I didn't stutter (me grinning), have a great day sir, thank you for your time nonetheless.
Him-(walks outside to stop me) Hey i'll tell you what, i'll send you out for a road test (actually went to go pick up a 53' rental trailer from a yard- 10 miles away) and if you good, we can talk.
***go out, bobtail down the road, go get trailer (only used to 27's and 48's, i never pulled a 53 before) and bring it back***

Him- (comes out with a smirk on his face) How did he do?
Road test guy- He did fine, i thought you said he got his license yesterday (me smirking lol)
Him- Good good, lets go sitdown and talk, when can you start?
Me- How much Overtime do your drivers average a week?
Him- Ummmmm None, theres no overtime here, plus guys dont like it anyway, its straight 40 and thats it, but its ok because you'll be making almost $3/hr more than you do now
Me- Im sorry i'm gonna have to pass
Him- Ooooh why is there a problem?
Me- Im sorry i wasted your time sir, I AVERAGE 80 (reg) and 40 (OT) every 2 weeks
Him- Ooooooooooh Ok, i completely understand, have a great day

Not really trying to open those can of worms. It's just this particular job, not trucking in general...
