Avoid flatbedding for now. Go with maverick

Maverick has flatbed & refrigerated. Flatbedding is good money and keep the wheels turning. I've hauled a few flatbed loads from Ft. Lewis to Wilmington, NC
Very little sitting around with flatbed; don't see too many flatbed or tanker hanging around truckstops waiting for loads. Most of those you see waiting will be reefer or dry van.
Prime also has flatbed & tanker.
If it were me, Maverick flatbed first & Schneider tanker second. -
Ahh yes primes a good choice too. But if ur a newbie u should avoid flatbedding g. That's what I've been told neway
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Don't pay that any attention Marky; whoever told you that is misinformed. Things have changed in trucking, and it seems now the good paying jobs, are OTR flatbed and tanker. New drivers shouldn't waste time on low paying jobs. I did real good, over $50K per year pulling reefers solo, but with the new HOS rules, not sure if that's possible now. I did much, much better OTR tanker/hazmat.

Interesting. But isn't flatbedding much more risky for a newbie? I'm aiming to get my hazmat and tank and dbl/trpl along with twic once I'm home from otr training.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Not more risky if you do what you're taught in load securement school. The high quality flatbed companies have intense load securement training. Maverick, Melton Truck Lines, System Transport, Howard Transportation & several other good flatbed companies.

Go with Maverick. If I wasn't happy at Roehl I'd look to go to Maverick. Flatbed is the way to go.

Maverick is a great company. We don't sit much they keep us rolling. Money is good, I avg 2100 miles a week home almost ever weekend. Get treated like a humanbeing, that is one big thing I like about them is they care about there drivers. I know one guy thats a Mav now he just came from schneider he pulled a tanker. And loves it at Mav cause he is making more money. But don't take it from me talk to other maverick drivers. Maverick would be a great choice but its all about what your looking for in a company. I will say stay away from cr England and US express. I heard bad things about them all the time. Wish you the best in you choice and good luck
Pmracing Thanks this. -
Like I said. Maverick.... End of discussion. You will be VERY glad with your decision. And......what was this about Schneider trucks NOT IDLING between certain temperatures??? Maverick trucks have APU/EPU's. We don't have to worry about staying comfortable after a hard days work earning our money. Flatbedding is awesome, something new every day. Get to get out of the truck and exercise while working..... Trust me.
