Friend of mine did something similar. Went to wrong building, passed interview, filed out application, insurance for family, etc. Told him to report for work Monday morning. He asked, "aren't you going to give me a road test?" The guy said, "for what?" He was in a factory that made steel 55 gallon drums & the trucking company was next door. Neither of us could figure out how the interview & hiring process went so far, without someone figuring out something was wrong.

My shortest length of employment was 4 years. I turned down more than a dozen jobs though before I found my current job.

I got denied a job for a trucking company. Guy actually sent me a letter saying it was because I was in the National Guard at the time. Had it not been for the military service, he would have hired me. So it was documented evidence.
Sent it to the local rep for Employer support of the Guard and Reserve. It's actually against federal law to deny based on military service. He chuckled when I gave him the letter. So blatant.
In the 6 weeks the file was open for dispute, I ended up getting a pay check based on what the guy had written. I liked the truck, the co-workers and all. I was referred there by one of the current workers. Little did they know the bosses feelings toward the military till then.
The "day" I actually started working there, the boss followed me EVERY WHERE. What finally got me "fired" was I stuck a shop rag in my tool bag I tossed into the truck for checking oil. He justified it as theft.
The ESGR guy filed lawsuit over it all and we went to federal court. It was funny watching the guy squirm that day. He had 6 trucks. the other drivers found out what happened and all 6 trucks were parked and cleaned out the day we went to court. Every driver quit on him that day with no notice.
I worked there for 4 hours.HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thanks this. -
There a lot of managers that just make you say " who did you ---- to get the job" because you did not get in on your merits.

Lonesome, TruckDuo, flipping wild and 1 other person Thank this. -
FFE my first job after getting my CDL lasted 4 days. I made it through the 3 day orientation just fine, even survived the insurance reveal on the last day (their insurance is some of the worst I've ever seen).
So the first day out with a trainer we were sent to terminal to pick up a preloaded trailer.
While pretripping the trailer the words "where's the tread?" came to mind with every tire I looked at. So I say to the trainer guess we're stuck here. He tells me that this isn't bad compared to most of the trailers he comes across there and he seemed a little too thrilled that all the lights were actually working. I'm ready to pull the ripcord right then and there and bail out, but the trainer was a cool guy so I talk myself into staying. That lasted until we got to the truck stop and scaled out.
88k gross He calls his FM tells him the numbers. I hear the FM ask. How much fuel do you have in the tanks? Then asking him to just do a favor and run it. I'm texting a friend at this point telling her to call me and pretend like there was an emergency at home. She does and I apologize profusely to the company and the trainer that I have to get home to take care of a family matter and I get out at the truck stop and that was that. -
Does being disqualified at Swift orientation before lunchtime because you use a cpap count?

1 week with MBI/Mr. Bult's Inc. running trailers full of trash from transfer stations to landfills. Paid by the load, no breakdown or wait pay, started at 4:30am and ended around 4:30pm, changed your own tires and it was all hand rolled tarps so you had to wade through trash on top of a 53' trailer to tarp/untarp. The job wasn't worth it, I had the smell/taste of trash for a week after my one and only week working there.

I lasted a whole whopping week with CFI.That was my fault for quitting..Had I given the company a chance I probably would hae liked them. But my dispatcher from Werner talked me into coming back. She called quite a few times and sent emails.I get back and wish I would have never quit CFI.
LaBubba Thanks this. -
I'll give any company 7 month's. Don't ask me why. I guess that's how long it takes me to get mad. Five companies I quit at seven month's. The rest were > 2.5 years.
