Hunt drops trailers in Ohio and their mostly running stuff to the warehouse in Kearney, NE and Delaware, I've been told many times by the SE regional sales rep that he'd just assume never see their trucks down there again, I can do 2 NC in a week they barely do 1

That's the thing that would be a dealbreaker for me. Real easy to get cargo claims that way.

    SHC and GLN76 Thank this.

I can understand why you love open deck work. I don't know much about the West Coast market. We avoid it because of inconsistent freight, generally poor rates, and it is challenging to run from Iowa to the West Coast in a week. I believe the Sammons program is a fair deal, especially compare to other L/P deals. I do not think you will get ahead running around the Western 11. There was another driver (NWMAXI) to had a good thread on their program. The rates in the Western States just were not high enough to make good money. He did need to be home on a regular basis. If you were open to leaving home and heading East, and staying in the Eastern half of the country for three or more weeks you could probably do fairly well. After that you could catch a load home and stay there for a week. Open deck rates are much better in the Eastern Half of the country.

Otherwise, I would look for a regional gig with a different company. As I stated earlier, I don't know enough about your market to make specific suggestions.

I enjoyed reading his thread. It infuenced my thinking about Sammons. I do agree with you about heading east for better freight and pay. What your suggesting would be perfect for me as I like to run for about 6 - 8 weeks at a time, then go home for a week. Thanks again for your advise.

that's me! sorry I didn't see this sooner, I live in Phoenix and work for Lonestar, I like it quite a bit. Call them. Let me know any specifics, you will get a mix of oversize and legal loads to start. They do work you up fairly quick though, hometime is 5 days max however they get me home as often as once a month if I want.
