I average about 70 miles to deadhead. I may still have to DH another 100 to pick up my next load.

DH is much different with a van compared to a platform. With a van, you should not have to DH more than 50 miles. BUT, the abundance of van loads also is a reason the rates are cheap (most times) but there are some really good loads out there also.

I understand and have done it before as well, now my routes and commodity has changed but hey we all have a way and if it works then we are good to go.

I could never do what you do and bless you for making it work.

Especially for a good customer that likes the way you do business. Some will pay a little extra for excellent service form a clean cut driver that knows how to take a shower each day :)

Congrats, and sorry to hear.... Chicago traffic with hot load of concrete will have you inside chipping it out of the barrel...be careful with that kind of work, my friend. :D

Sitting at the moment at the T/A in Bloomsburg, PA.

Started the run after unloading in Auroro, OH this morning, got to Montoursville, PA and unloaded... and realized that with the EDT timezone I wasn't going to make the other two today, so just had some dinner, catching up in here on the puter and then scoot over to the first delivery for the morning to sleep there. Hopefully, after the two unloads they will have a load for me to put on tomorrow afternoon/evening. Made sure they understood my disdain for the long delivery.... I like to run weekends, not sit in a truckstop waiting to deliver on a Tuesday after picking up on a Thursday morn :(

Must save money, and get own truck....urgent. :D

Loves in Baytown, saw my first ever truck on truck accident today, stuck in a traffic jam and one empty flatbed slammed into the back of another empty flatbed, wasn't going more than 10mph but made a loud bang. :biggrin_2559:
