Ive been looking at at trucks with van bodies on them, seems like they all bave these little cats, mostly 3126s, and Ive heard nothing but bad about those.

I would like a 8.3 Cummins, as I have been around many 5.9s in Dodges, but the 8.3 seems kinda rare, Are the c7's just as bad or are they more reliable then the 3126? Thanks

I worked at a place that ran 6 of those engines in buses and they weren't a bad engine. The only downfall they had was the fact that they had to be parked in a heated shop in the winter or they wouldn't start. I think running 5-40 oil in them would have solved that problem. Other than that its a good engine from my experience.

I have 3 of them in kw T300's, keep the engine oil clean, they rely on it for there huei fuel injection system. We replaced all 3 of mine with long block remans from cat, 16,500$ (can) for a complete drop in. I believe mine are the 330hp c7. The lifespan of all my previous engines were 10-14,000hrs of crappy Alberta oilfield life. Good luck
