So, Striker, why do you think I am crazy for wanting what you got? Why do you think it's crazy for anyone to want a better life for themselves? What was wrong with my dream of a better trucking industry than many are experiencing?

going back to my original comment, you've got some good drugs, pass them around to the rest of us. Your dealing with a fantasy, not a dream, until such time as drivers rise up as one and go on strike, bring the country to it's knees, what you seek will not happen across the board. It's something will only be found in certain companies under certain circumstances.

Melton truck lines drives 2013 kw 660 and the trailers are in good shape too. they are a flatbed co and you can expect to bring in 2000-2200 miles/week. never had a problem with home time they ask that if you live east of i-35 you can request to be home every 14days or if you live west of i-35 you can ask to be home every 21days. for evey week you are out you get one day off. once had a problem with a shipper called melton about it and have not been back to that shipper sence. Melton runs e-logs so there is no cheating at all.

All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing. So why are you trying to discourage all good men in the trucking industry?

Hold on there my friend. After 33 years of doing this it has come down to 2 things for me, home time and pay. Getting paid 90% of the miles I drive? Try 97%. I've been here at my company 4 years and have a great relationship with dispatch, there's 2 of them, one takes care of my outbound dedicated run, the other knows I need to be back for Tuesday night to load my run Wednesday morning. I sleep in my bed at home 4 nights a week and in my truck 3 nights a week. I'm home every Thursday night and leave out on Monday morning. I drove brand new equipment here that couldn't pass a Volvo dealership without stopping in or being towed in. Is that the companies fault or the truck manufacturer? Now I drive a 12 year old W-900 with 1.5 million on the clock that has been inspected by DOT 3 times and has passed each time without issue. Pay? $1125 per week average for the last 2 years. For OTR this works just fine for me. It's guys like myself who put up with all the garbage these companies had to offer back in the late 70's and throughout the 80's that has made it possible for newer drives like yourself to feel entitled to the same thing. I wish you and every new driver coming into this profession can start out making 56K per year, 3000 miles per week and home every Thursday night for 4 nights. I have that now, the only difference is I don't drive 3000 miles a week, I only drive 2700.

Delighted with the trucking industry? For this driver it has done me just fine for the 33 years I've been out here. I sent 2 kids through college, have 3 years to go on my mortgage, travel the world yearly with my wife, and have my retirement in place for that magical date of Feb, 13, 2016, my birthday, my retirement and my home will be paid off. All at 60 years old. I have always believed in being part of the problem or part of the solution, I chose being part of the solution back in February 1979. All these things you haven't experienced yet in your 6 years I have, I saw ways to fulfill my dreams. I have light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't a freight train. Do what you can to change this industry if it isn't to your expectations, I did what I had to do to have an incredible career in trucking. Hollywood couldn't have written these last 33 years any better.
