GWG. You seem like a guy who has some smarts.

Just remember these words when you feel like they're putting a gun to your head and wanting you to do things you shouldn't or can't........

    "Sorry,I can't do that because(insert excuse here)"

Once a truck is in the ditch or on it's side........there are no excuses.

You say "we have to play by their rules",which is true to an extent.

The Golden rule in trucking for a driver is this "PROTECT YOUR LICENSE ABOVE ALL ELSE" and unfortunately the people you will most likely be protecting your license from is most often the company you work for.

    Good luck.
I hope you find something that works for you.

Hey Down, thanks for the compliment. I get it. If they are putting the gun to my head, I already KNOW, and I am a soon to be student, that what protects me is:
    1. My Hours of Service are not sufficient to do what you are asking (telling) me to do, and
    2. I dont feel safe in doing what you are asking (telling) me to do.
    Oh, and third:
Document, document, DOCUMENT EVERYTHING AT ALL TIMES!!

I work for may trucking in 1998 at the time they were hiring a lot of packis and indians one day I had to get my trk serviced in salem.Upon entering the shop I heard the mechanic whisper thank god,I was like whats up? He said he was glad it wasnt a paki truck I was like why whats wrong with the pakis trucks? He said he refused to work on there trucks. He then began to tell me they have a habit of putting two to four drivers in the cab so they can run like mad. When I asked whats wrong with that? He said well thats not the problem, problem is the will cut a 8" hole in the middle of the sleeper to poop and pee while they are driving down the road he said it hits the drive shaft and slings it all over the under carriage .after I had thrown up in my mouth I agreed with him I would refuse to work on them to...lol
